Mass times Saturday 4pm and Sunday 10:30am
The kingdom of God is at hand! Jesus sees the crowds and has pity for them because they are troubled and abandoned. They have no one to care for them. What do they need? The message that the kingdom of God is near gives us hope! Jesus tells the disciples to spread this message. How will they show others that the message they bring is from God? Jesus gives them the ability to cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons. These are signs that God is with them! What do we need to believe the message of God?

“Do not let the past disturb you. Leave everything in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and begin again with joy.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta

The relationship between God and man - ever since the beginning - is a relationship of man turning away and going back to God. But the unfaithfulness of man is superseded by the unrelenting faithfulness of God. God is love and God is faithful to his name. We turn away and God respects our choice, but He yearns for us to come back to His loving arms. Even through our own pains and sufferings, He is with us, sharing the load.

Today we turn towards the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. A heart that knows us and desires us every waking day. A heart wounded by our sins which pours out tender mercy.

It does not matter if you feel that you have been too far gone. It does not matter about the kinds of wrongdoings done in the past. Jesus’ Sacred Heart is of infinite love. He wishes to forgive us, and sin no more. But most importantly, He wants us to forgive ourselves: to believe in ourselves in the same way He believes in us.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Today's reading comes from a longer section in John's Gospel known as the Bread of Life discourse. At the beginning of John 6, Jesus multiplies the bread and fish. The crowd, possibly looking for another sign, follows Jesus and struggles to understand his teaching. It is in this context that Jesus tells them that he is the bread of life, and whoever eats his flesh and drinks his blood will have eternal life. As the Israelites were provided the bread called manna in their desert wandering. Jesus now offers himself as the bread of the journey. Catholics interpret this verse literally, as Jesus meant it. Although Jesus knows this is hard to hear, he does not go back on what he says as a result many who had gathered left him.

Jesus said to Nicodemus: "God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
Indeed God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. The one who believes in him is not condemned; but the one who does not believe is condemned already, for not having believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God" John 3:16-18

As we draw closer to the conclusion of the Easter season, we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord.
The Feast of the Ascension celebrates the mystery, joy, and glory of Jesus' return to the Father.

On this Mother’s Day, we give thanks to God for the gift of all mothers—those with us today and those who have gone before us. We honour mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and all women who reflect God’s nurturing love through their care, sacrifice, and faith.

We also hold in prayer those for whom this day carries a quieter weight: mothers who have lost children, children who have lost their mothers, those who long to be mothers, and those who feel alone. May God’s gentle presence bring comfort, healing, and peace to every heart.

As a parish community, we are grateful for the many ways maternal love is lived among us—through kindness, patience, guidance, and steadfast devotion. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, intercede for all women and surround them with her love today and always.

Wishing a blessed and peaceful Mother’s Day to all.

Weekend Mass Times:
Saturday 4pm and Sunday 10:30am
Jesus is preparing his disciples for this physical departure, or his Ascension.
He assures the disciples he will not leave them orphans. Jesus explains that the Father will give them an Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to be with them always. The Holy Spirit will remain with them and be in them. In this way, the Holy Spirit binds them to one another and to the Son and the Father. This is the same Holy Spirit that we receive at baptism and is strengthened in confirmation. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Which of these gifts most help you to live as a follower of Jesus?
Which of these gifts do you need to increase to face life's challenges?
How do you experience the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life?
