We’re back in Glen Morris for the Labour Day weekend and can’t wait to see everyone again after the summer!

As Rev. Michiko continues their sabbatical, we are delighted to welcome Rev. Linda Butler as our guest minister on Sundays, September 6, 13 and 20, beginning at 10:30am.

We’d love to see you for coffee at 10:00am in the Heritage Room before the service. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and neighbours and enjoy some conversation before worship.

If you’re unable to join us in person, we will, of course, be sharing the service on Zoom, with access at the link below.

A little about Linda -

Linda grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and after graduating from Victoria College with a degree in History and English, she joined the Canadian Foreign Service with the Department of Employment and Immigration. Over the next nine years, she served in Buenos Aires, Ottawa, Tel Aviv and Manila.

Following her time in the Foreign Service, Linda earned her MDiv from Emmanuel College and began her ministry in the United Church. She was settled for three years on Valley Charge in southern Manitoba, followed by another three-point rural charge in Coldwater. She then moved to Bloor Street United Church, where she entered into team ministry with Warren McDougall. Together, they spent the 10 years leading up to their retirement serving the congregation in Richmond Hill.

Linda has also served as an educational supervisor for ministry students since 1986 - a role that is particularly meaningful to us, as it is how she first met Rev. Michiko!

In 2023, Linda moved to Guelph, where she continues to be actively involved in her community. She volunteers with Chalmers Food Pantry, the Evergreen Seniors Centre and Dog Guides, where she enjoys sitting for pups in training.

Outside of her volunteer work and ministry, Linda is an avid vegetable gardener and enjoys attending Forest Church at the Arboretum.

We look forward to welcoming Linda and being together again in Glen Morris, where everyone is warmly welcome. Come as you are, come when you can.

What a wonderful first attempt at a Glen Morris Food Truck Night!

On Thursday, August 20, the Glen Morris United Church Parkette came alive from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. as about 50 people gathered to enjoy delicious food, good conversation and plenty of laughter.

Spearheaded by Glen Morris resident Jasmine Percival, the evening featured the delicious offerings of Paula’s Street Food of India and BBQ from the Wild Boar. Many brought along their lawn chairs and settled in to enjoy a relaxed evening of neighbourly fun, while the younger crowd enjoyed lawn activities organized by Sue Harkness.

It was especially wonderful to meet so many new faces from in and around the village. This first event was a trial run, and judging by the response, it was a very successful one!

The hope is to turn Food Truck Night into a monthly Glen Morris happening in 2027 — perhaps on a Tuesday evening from June through September. Stay tuned!

A big thank you to Jasmine, our food vendors, Sue and everyone who came out to make the first Glen Morris Food Truck Night such a success. We can’t wait to do it again!

Glen Morris United Church at Brant Cares Community Connection Day

Glen Morris United Church was pleased to be one of 27 organizations participating in the Brant Cares Community Connection Day, held on Saturday, July 25, at Paris Lions Park.

Blessed with beautiful weather and a wonderful turnout, the event brought together community groups, agencies, and residents for a day focused on building connections, sharing resources, and celebrating the many organizations that help make Brant a caring and welcoming place to live.

Throughout the day, our booth welcomed many visitors who stopped to learn more about the life and ministry of Glen Morris United Church, while children enjoyed a variety of fun, hands-on crafts.

A heartfelt thank you to Susan Harkness for her creativity and leadership in organizing the children’s activities, and to Lynn McRuer, Bill Labron, Jen Westbrook, Deb Fraser, and Janice Little for setting up and warmly welcoming everyone who visited our booth.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with both familiar faces and new friends, strengthen community relationships, and share the welcoming spirit of Glen Morris United Church.
