God is a mystery because the more that you understand about God, the more you see how little you understand. The further you travel into the mystery of God, the more you see how far you have to go. He is merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. He is love so great, so overwhelming, impossible to explain or take for granted. The only thing we can do it bow down and worship: enter the mystery, and allow the mystery enter us.
-From the homily of Father M. Cole Powers (31 May 2026)

It is entirely fitting that this weekend wherein we join with the Church around the world to celebrate and renew the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples at Pentecost should also mark the beginning of the construction of our new Church...
In all we say and do, and above all as regards our new church building project, let our words, actions, and desires be born of the will of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit. And that peace which is Christ's will for us, His parting gift in the Holy Spirit, will be upon us.

Jesus ascends to the Father to that His humanity can be present across all of time and space, so that He can be close to each of us. He is present everywhere and throughout all time so that He can meet mankind, and do so through the Church.

It is an insult to Christ to suggest that His life, death and resurrection is reduced to etiquette. Jesus reminds us of the primacy of the love of God. The priority of being a Christian is to know the love of the Father as revealed in the Son and communicated in His Holy Spirit.
-From the homily of Monsignor Owen Keenan (10 May 2026)
