Choral Response: “There Is Room for All” MV62
There is room for all
in the shadow of God’s wing;
there is room for all, sheltered in God’s love.
And I rejoice and sing,

June is Indigenous History Month, and June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is an opportunity to celebrate and learn more about the diverse cultures, traditions, governing systems, histories, spiritualities, and gifts of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.
The best way to learn is directly from Indigenous people:
read Indigenous authors,
listen to Indigenous musicians and podcasters,
view art and film made by Indigenous artists,
seek opportunities to learn from Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and teachers
attend events organized by Indigenous nations, organizations or Friendship Centers in your area.
Centering Indigenous voices and experiences, honouring Indigenous identity and resilience contributes to building up a society that actively addresses anti-Indigenous racism, and where all people may flourish.

On Sunday, June 28, please join us for our annual picnic on the lawn. After the service in the sanctuary, we will gather on the lawn for lunch. Bring a lunch - some may want to bring enough to share with others, bring your lawn chairs, hats and good conversation. The Congregational committee along with a few helpers, will provide lemonade, watermelon and cupcakes. If it rains, we will picnic in the back hall. Looking forward to kicking off summer with all of you.

We come with joyful praise and hopeful hearts.
Hymn: “Morning Has Broken” VU409/BP814
1/3
Morning has broken
like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken
like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
fresh from the Word!
2/3
Sweet the rain’s new fall
sunlit from Heaven,
like the first dewfall
on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness
where God’s feet pass.
3/3
Ours is the sunlight!
Ours is the morning,
born of the one light
Eden saw play.
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God’s re-creation
of the new day!
Opening Prayer:
…
Our Creator, Our Mother and Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For thine kingdom, the power, and the glory
Forever and ever. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon:
Hymn: “It Only Takes a Spark” (Verse 1-2) VU289
1/3
It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
and soon all those around can warm up in its glowing:
that’s how it is with God’s love,
once you’ve experienced it:
you spread God’s love to everyone,
you want to pass it on.
2/3
What a wondrous time is spring when all the trees are budding,
the birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming;
that’s how it is with God’s love,
once you’ve experienced it:
you want to sing, it’s fresh like spring,
you want to pass it on.
Theme Conversation:
Hymn: “It Only Takes a Spark” (Verse 3) VU289
3/3
I wish for you, my friend, this happiness that I’ve found –
on God you can depend, it matters not where
you’re bound:
I’ll shout it from the mountain top;
I want my world to know:
the Lord of love has come to me,
I want to pass it on.

The Call of Abram
A Son Promised to Abraham and Sarah
18 The Lord appeared to Abraham[a] by the oaks[b] of Mamre, as he sat at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. 2 He looked up and saw three men standing near him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent entrance to meet them and bowed down to the ground. 3 He said, “My lord, if I find favor with you, do not pass by your servant. 4 Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. 5 Let me bring a little bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah and said, “Make ready quickly three measures[c] of choice flour, knead it, and make cakes.” 7 Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to the servant, who hastened to prepare it. 8 Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared and set it before them, and he stood by them under the tree while they ate.
9 They said to him, “Where is your wife Sarah?” And he said, “There, in the tent.” 10 Then one said, “I will surely return to you in due season, and your wife Sarah shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent entrance behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I have grown old, and my husband is old, shall I be fruitful?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too wonderful for the Lord? At the set time I will return to you, in due season, and Sarah shall have a son.” 15 But Sarah denied, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Results of Justification
5 Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have obtained access[b] to this grace in which we stand, and we[c] boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we[d] also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. 8 But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
