Ephesians 4:12-16 should be the goal of every Christian. This scripture passage should be the aim for every church that believes in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
Now for those who believe in Jesus, I think there are things that we have not understood are our part to do.
So it’s true for those who believe in Jesus, we have encountered Gods presence. God’s goodness, His forgiveness, His mercy and grace.
Some of us are even baptized in the spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. And all we ever did was believe in Jesus, and God did everything else.
But there are things that we are to do because we believe God.
I ask you to pray about what things God would have you do because you are His.

To get to the There spiritually - won’t happen unless we are engaging with God in His Divine process.
It is a decision that we have to make for ourselves.
If we say yes- then it is committing ourselves to God’s process.
Question- is God really our first love? What should that look like?
Question- what hinders us from reading God’s Word?
Question- what hinders us from doing devotions with God?
Question- what hinders us from being honest with God in our prayer times?
Question-what hinders us from attending our local church services?
Commitment to the Lord is hard work. It does mean sacrifice, it means putting effort in on our part.
Without real commitment, nothing will ever happen to get us to the There-Spiritually. May we all engage in God’s divine process.

To get to the There level spiritually requires commitment on our part. It requires effort on our part. It requires us to recognize the change that is needed in us.
It requires us to be a people of prayer.
It requires us to learn how to be still and hear God.
It requires us to put some thought into how we are going to get to the There. In other words we have to do some planning.
Ex is planning on reading your Bible through in a year.

Are you engaged in God’s Divine process? That was the title for this past Sunday’s message.
At a pastors conference, we were challenged by the leader of the PAOC district in Manitoba.
If we are presently Here at this level spiritually when we know God wants us to come to the There level? What does it take to go to the There level spiritually?
I leave you today to ponder what are some of the things that are not right with your Here level spiritually, now. God Bless your time of pondering.

I believe if we are honest with ourselves, we have been tossed around by some wrong doctrines. We are living in a time of abundant misinformation and deception. We need God’s help through the 5 Fold ministry to keep the church pure.
Is the teaching- Christ centred.
Is the teaching- scriptural.
Does the teaching- produce Godly fruit.
Does the teaching pass the gospel test.
Does the teaching pass the Holy Spirit witness test.
Does the teaching pass the Obedience and Righteous Living- test.
Does the teaching pass the Prophecy test.
We are living in times where we can no longer be independent, separated from God’s healthy church. Engage with God’s church and become a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Going back to last week’s message. We want a healthy church today. We want a church that lives in a Godly balance, not by man’s way of thinking but in God’s ways.
We don’t want to be in the ditch, missing out on God, missing God’s intentions. All because we are holding onto wrong understandings of what God values, what is really important to God.
Here are somethings that put the church in the ditch.
A shallow view of God
Misunderstanding Gods Grace and Works
Neglecting the Holy Spirit
Misinterpreting scripture
A self centred gospel
Keeping unity at the expense of the truth
Not being taught about Hell, Judgement, and Sin
An overreliance on human wisdom and culture
Forgetting the mission of the church
Misunderstanding revival and the sanctification process

If we don’t have a true understanding of God’s balance- we will be in error. Missing God, even though we have good intentions, and want to please God.

Yesterday at our church service we were very blessed.
Adult Teen Challenge ladies were out from Brandon.
God is so good. We met 14 ladies who were part of the program. 2 ladies shared their testimony of making the choice to get help. They knew they couldn’t get out of their addiction’s on their own. These ladies came to the place of surrendering to Jesus Christ. It was not easy for these ladies, but they obeyed their leaders. These ladies did what they were asked to do. They read their Bibles, they prayed, they allowed God to heal their hearts, their lives changed, they left their old ways of thinking and behaving.
What we witnessed yesterday in church was the power of God at work in the lives of people who chose to surrender to Christ. These ladies allowed God to be God in their lives. These ladies became teachable, they had become humble. These ladies have become daughters of God. These ladies radiated the love of God.
The rewards of surrendering your life to Christ are worth the cost, because when you surrender to Christ, you get life in Christ.

Evangelists bring a passion for souls to the church. Evangelists bring a desire to reach souls for Christ.
Pastors bring care to the church members. Pastors bring unity into the church. Pastors represent Jesus- who laid down His life for the church.
Teachers bring Truth to the church. Teachers bring maturity to the church through sound Biblical doctrinal teachings.
We need a church that is healthy today. We need a church that lives in godly balance, not in man’s ways but God’s ways.
The church needs our prayers.
God Bless our desire to lift up God’s church before our Heavenly Father.

The 5 Fold Ministry is not man made offices. Jesus has given these gifts to His church. These are Spirit ordained roles for God’s purposes in the church.
Apostles bring a foundation, a mission, and a vision that the church must operate from in order to accomplish its purpose.
Prophets give guidance to the church. Prophets give discernment to the church. Prophets bring Holiness to the church.

Biblical teaching leads people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. This produces in us, living a godly lifestyle as revealed in God’s Word.
The goal of Christian teaching is to raise us up in our love walk but this can only come about from a pure heart. This gives us a good conscience along with sincere faith .
The evidence of genuine Christian learning is not just what a believer knows, but in how they live it out in their lives.
Teachers are absolutely necessary to bring this out in our Christian life. However, if believers begin following false Biblical doctrines, the door is open in ourselves for unhealthy desires. When this happens we will live by false belief systems instead of living for God.
Question- are you sure your belief systems are in alignment with God’s Word. God doesn’t change His Word to accommodate us, we are to move towards God. Repentance is necessary if we are in error. God forgives us but repentance requires us to change and live Gods Way. Are we willing to do that?

Today we are looking at the teacher in the 5 fold ministry.
Teachers have been given a gift from God to teach. It’s their special ability. Teachers clarify God’s Word so well that the body of Christ is built up.
Godly biblical teaching promotes truth. This truth produces holiness in the church. Truth promotes moral purity, spiritual wholeness and a separation from evil with a renewed dedication to God. That’s the power behind Godly teachers , teaching God’s Word.
We need Teachers in the church today.

More on the role of a pastor in their church.
A pastor is to do their best to ensure that all the people under there ministry remain true and responsive to God’s truth. That the people allow God to work in their lives, and that they continually surrender to God’s grace, letting God help them to grow up in their faith and knowledge of God.
A pastor is to safeguard God’s truth.
A pastor is to function as a shepherd as they care for and protect the flock.
We are to remember always that Jesus is the ultimate Good Shepherd of the church.
Pastors are essential for God’s purpose for the church.
Pray for your pastor!

Next on the churches 5 fold ministry is Pastors.
Pastors are to oversee and care for the Spiritual needs of the church.
A pastor is tasked with helping believers grow in being the body of Christ, under the headship of Jesus Christ.
A pastor helps equip the church to fulfill its God given role in Christian service.
A pastor is to communicate God’s Word- accurately through preaching and teaching.
A pastor is to stand against false beliefs in the church.
A pastor is to stand against ungodliness in the church.
I will more on the role of a pastor in the church tomorrow, but we need to pray for our pastors. They are a gift from God to us.

This Sunday we continued looking at the 5 fold ministry within the church.
Evangelists are a gift from God to the church. Evangelists are commissioned by God to proclaim the gospel message of spiritual salvation to those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Evangelists preach, people believe and get saved and baptized. Miracles, healings, and deliverance all can take place when an evangelist is ministering.
Churches that support evangelism grow in their love for the lost and in their desire to reach the lost.
Those very churches are empowered by the Holy Spirit with His Grace and His Hope.
The church needs evangelists today.
We are to pray for evangelists to come and preach in our region.

Prophets are very important in the church.
Prophets warn of the judgment that is to come.
Prophets battle against worldliness in the church.
Prophets battle against complacency in the church.
Prophets speak messages of righteousness in the church.
Prophets speak about getting right with God.
Prophets are rejected by those who are in rebellion within the church.
Prophets are keenly aware of the evil that is taking place within the church.
Prophets recognize the false teachings within the church.
Prophets sense what God senses.
God tells us in 1 Corinthians 12 & 14 about the gifts of the Spirit. God tells us we should desire the gifts but especially that we may prophecy. Are we asking God for His Spiritual gifts for the body of Christ- the church.

Today, I will tell about prophets in the 5 fold ministry in the church.
The office of the prophet in the New Testament is very important.
Prophets are uniquely gifted to receive and communicate direct revelation from God by the promptings from the Holy Spirit.
Prophets are chosen by God.
Prophets are Spirit- Filled speakers and interpreters of God’s Word.
Prophets warn and challenge the church to reach higher in God.
Prophets will bring comfort and encouragement to the church in order to build up God’s people.
Sometimes God will allow the Prophets to foretell the future, sometimes to expose sin and speak correction according to God’s standards for the church.
Tomorrow will bring more about prophets. May God encourage you in your seeking to grow in Christ.

All of today’s Christian teachings must be evaluated- in the light of God’s written word.
Our denomination is headed up by what is called District Superintendent. That man is really fulfilling the role of Apostolic leader for our denomination today. His role is vital to our church. He is tasked with keeping the church’s from falling into the error of false teachings.
Galatians 1:10. For am I not seeking the approval of man, or of God? If I was trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel.
Galatians 1:12 For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it , but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
Have you received a revelation of Jesus Christ?
We need Godly men and women in our life- who have received a revelation of Jesus Christ. Our coming under Godly leadership in a church, is vital for our own spiritual growth in Jesus Christ. Jesus- have your way in me needs to be our prayer. May God Bless our understanding.

God’s plan is the 5 fold ministry to equip the saints for the work of the ministry.
Starting with Apostles- meaning a person who is commissioned representative of the church- filled with the Holy Spirit- devoted to Christ Jesus. Their faith is strong and deep. Their prayer life is rich and deep in Christ.
God will often confirm their message with signs and wonders.
Apostles are dedicated to establishing churches.
Apostles are willing to risk their lives for the cause of Christ.

To a mature manhood
To the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
So the church will not be tossed to and fro
By every wind of doctrine
Speaking the truth in love
That we may grow up in every way
Into Him who is the head
Into Christ
Each part working properly
So that the body builds its self up in love

This is God’s plan according Ephesians 4:11-16

The churches unity is seen outside the church doors all because it is the body of Christ.
The church is recognized around the world because it is engaged-
-in feeding the hungry
-healing the sick
-educating the poor
-fighting injustice
-spreading the gospel
-strengthening families
-and working for peace.

Can the church really have unity in today’s day and age?
Yes, but only if it will remain loyal to God’s Truth and if the church will continue to grow in its relationship with Jesus Christ and willingly obeys the Spirit of God.
So are we spending time with Jesus?
When we do- Galatians 5:22-24 says- but the fruit of the spirit is love,joy,peace,patience,kindness,
goodness, faithfulness,gentleness,self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
This is the only way we will walk in unity as a church.
May God bless our understanding of His desire for us to walk in unity as His church.

Ephesians 4:3 says we are to be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
But we can’t create Godlike unity in the church. This unity can only exist in us - as a church- if we will completely embrace God’s truth-
Is Jesus Christ- your Lord and Saviour- are you surrendering to God’s will in your life?
To maintain the unity in the church is only possible- when we live worthy of the calling- we received from Christ.
We are talking about Spiritual unity-
not about agreeing on all other issues-
The Spiritual unity we are talking about is God’s love and God’s purpose for His church.
May God give us understanding- God Bless our understanding.

Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 4:1-2 that we as a church are to walk in a manner worthy of the calling. We are to walk in humility and gentleness with one another. We are to live - walking in patience with one another. Bearing with one another in love.
Question: Are we doing this?
If we truly are the body of Christ- this is the only position we can hold as a church.
May God help us to understand who we as His church really are.

The church needs to understand who we are-
-we are the body of Christ
-we are the Bride of Christ
-we are the Temple of God
-we are the people of God
-we are the family of God
-we are the missional community of God-
-the church is loved by God
-the church is set apart by God
-the church is united in Christ
-the church is sent out into the world by God
-to spread the good news of the gospel.
This is who we as a church are according to God’s Word.

All of history is moving towards this final union of Christ and His Bride-the church.
Bible scholars emphasize the union the church has with Christ- in sharing His life- His Spirit-His suffering- but the church is also to share in His ultimate Glory.
The Bride of Christ-is not just loved by Christ- but also shares deeply in His identity and His mission.
The church is Christ’s and He will never forsake His Bride.

The church is in the interim period of time before the wedding when the church is presented to Christ as His Bride.
During this interim period the church is to make herself ready, just as a bride prepares herself for the wedding.
The church is to be always growing towards Christ likeness. The church is preparing herself by learning to persevere- in worship of our God. In missions for God-and in holiness unto God.

Apostle Paul tells us that Christ sanctifies the church
But - how does Jesus do that?
- Ephesians 5 tells us that He does that by the washing with water and the Word.
Bible scholars believe this means-
Christ cleansed the church by His sacrifice on the Cross.
Bible scholars believe Christ’s cleansing is symbolized by personal water baptism by immersion- upon the confession of our faith in Christ Jesus.

A bride in Biblical times in the Jewish culture was to be pure and set apart for her husband to be. So in the Jewish culture when a bride was betrothed to be married, that meant she was already married even though the wedding had not yet taken place. Ephesians 5 gives us this beautiful view of marriage between a husband and a wife but also between Christ and the church. Marriage is this intimate deep relationship, where they become one in heart and in closeness. That is true love. This is how the church and Jesus are always to be with one another. May God bless our understanding of Christ and the church.

This Sunday -the message was on the Bride of Christ. Yes, that is another name for the church. Ephesians 5:25-27 reveals how God loves the church. This sacrificial love of Jesus for His Bride by His death on the Cross is a covenant that is unbreakable. All because it is rooted in Christ’s sacrifice. Have you ever wondered why the church is in such a spiritual struggle against Satan?
It is because God’s Kingdom is displaying His power in us- God’s church.
God is King- He has started, His spiritual reign on earth - in the hearts and activities of His church.

Continuing on with what is church, who is the church?
The church has the baptism in the Spirit. It is the Spirit that empowers the church to spread the message of Jesus Christ to fulfill God’s plans and purposes.
Another major purpose for the church is to demonstrate Christian fellowship. The church is to live out its witness of common love and care for one another, so that those outside the church can see it.

Do we really know who we are as a church?
The church is a spiritual fellowship-
It’s a group of believers who share a common relationship- those who love and worship God- it is those who have the same interest and purpose- pursuing Jesus Christ-
2 Corinthians 13:4 sums the church this way- the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all-
God gives His church- grace-love-and fellowship.

The church is made up of the people who are spiritually saved. That means they are purified (spiritually holy). The church are those people who have been set apart for God’s purposes. You may wonder- why the church? It is because the church believes in Jesus Christ. It is the church that accepts Christ’s forgiveness- His new life deposited in them. It is the church that accepts Jesus sacrificial death on the Cross for the sins of the church. May God give us understanding of what and who the church is today. God Bless

The church is the people, who accept Christ’s message in their heart. They believe, they are the ones who have entrusted their lives to Christ. They are the ones who have chosen to come together, as one. The church-is the citizens of God’s Kingdom.

The church is so important to God. But before we go there, we need the church in our lives. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
The major reason we need one another is - together- is better.
It is better when there are many listening ears- it is better when there are many seeing eyes.
Dwelling together in Jesus Christ
- discerning what the Lird is saying
-discerning what God is in fact doing in the circumstances.

False teachers are helping people develop harder hearts. Soft hearts are God’s plan for His children. When a person is repentant and turn to God by accepting Jesus forgiveness. Their heart is spiritually reborn. Their heart is renewed, revitalized, it’s reformed, it’s redeveloped to the place where the heart is right with God once again. Is your heart getting softer or harder? What you are listening to may be developing a hardness in your heart that drives you away from God. God Bless your understanding

False teachers are surrounding the church today. The church is under attack. The Christian faith is primarily a person’s relationship with Jesus along with fellowship with God. Those who accept Jesus by faith are God’s children. Spiritual salvation through faith is personal- it’s a relationship with Jesus. It is putting your faith in Jesus. God’s Grace is well able to forgive us and keep us and save us spiritually.

God’s grace is able to keep our relationship alive but only as we believers remain committed to our relationship to Jesus. If for some reason a believer becomes spiritually rebellious (that could be somebody interrupting scripture to suite themselves instead of God)or they become faithless towards God. They are in fact choosing to breakaway from Christ. At this point they have cut themselves off from the only source of life there is- Jesus. There is a limit to God’s patience. At some point, He will allow us to go down the path of no return. We must take these warnings seriously, apostasy is a real danger to you and I. God Bless our understanding.

Apostle Paul says that hard hearts will be even greater in end times.
What I find extremely scary is during end times, apostasy will abound even in those who claim to be Christians. Apostasy means to break away from one’s saving relationship with Jesus. It means to withdraw from their faith in Jesus.
False teachers will abound leading people astray from God’s truth.
The Christian faith is primarily a person’s relationship with Jesus and companionship or fellowship with God.
The question is- how is our relationship with Jesus ? How is our fellowship with God- doing?

Good meaning folks say- follow your heart.
But that is not God’s advice-
Jeremiah 17:9 says- the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Jesus tells us that hearts stubbornly turn toward evil are on a path to make them harder -Mark 7:21-23
- anyone who refuses to believe God’s Word or refuse to obey God’s commandments-
Are putting themselves in extreme danger.
God will allow people to go their own way- if they persist in having their own way. Those individuals will lose sensitivity to God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.
We can’t afford this - friends.
