On this day… June 7, 1913, Methodist evangelist George Bennard publicly introduced his beloved hymn, The Old Rugged Cross, during a revival meeting in Pokagon, Michigan. Bennard wrote the first verse after enduring ridicule while conducting evangelistic meetings, finding in Christ's cross both comfort and strength. Originally presented as a special song accompanied by a guitar, this simple hymn would go on to touch millions around the world.

We enjoyed having the Bishop Family visit us as they came north from various states for a family fishing trip. The fellowship was a rich blessing.
