𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁. 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 | 𝗚𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹: 𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝟲:𝟮𝟬–𝟮𝟲

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the Beatitudes and shows us a different way of seeing what it means to be blessed. The poor, the hungry, those who weep, and those who are rejected for His sake are called blessed—not because suffering is good, but because 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺.

The world often tells us that happiness comes from comfort, possessions, success, and recognition. Jesus reminds us that these things cannot be the foundation of our lives.
𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀: Have we become too attached to comfort, possessions, or the approval of others that we sometimes forget God and those who are in need?

St. Peter Claver shows us what it means to live this Gospel. He saw people who were suffering and chose to respond with compassion and service. His life reminds us that faith is not only something we believe—it is something we live through the way we see, love, and serve others.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: What are we truly seeking—what the world promises, or the lasting joy that comes from knowing God and loving others?

May we learn to see with the heart of Christ, remain grateful without becoming attached to comfort, and never become too satisfied to notice those who are hurting. Like St. Peter Claver, may our faith move us to compassionate action and make our lives a blessing to others. 🙏❤️

Reflection:
Ecological conversion begins with honest recognition of our responsibility.
Repentance opens the door to healing.

Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to the harm I have caused.
Give me a humble heart willing to change.

Reflection:
No one is outside the shared responsibility of caring for our planet.
Our differences should never prevent us from working together.

Prayer:
Lord, unite humanity in the care of our common home.
Teach us to work together for the good of all.

𝓛𝓪𝓾𝓭𝓪𝓽𝓸 𝓢𝓲 2026

Laudato Si | Day 2: The earth cries out because of the harm humanity has inflicted upon her. Laudato Si’ §2

Reflection:
The wounds of creation reveal the consequences of our choices.
May we listen before the damage becomes irreversible.

Prayer:
Merciful God, forgive us for the ways we have harmed your creation. Give us courage to change our ways.

In the Gospel passage of today from Matthew 16:13-20 Jesus asks His followers who He truly is. St. Peter replies that Jesus is the "Messiah, the Son of the living God".

Jesus tells Peter that his correct answer came from God, not from human cleverness. This reminds Franciscans that true wisdom requires us to be humble and rely on the Holy Spirit rather than ourselves.

Jesus calls Peter "a rock" and promises to build His church on it. St. Francis of Assisi taught that the "church" is not just a building. It is a community of believers living together with deep, loving faith.

Jesus tells His disciples not to tell anyone that He is the Messiah. For Franciscans, this teaches that the best way to show who Jesus is isn't by bragging about it with words. Instead, we must show who Jesus is by how we live—through acts of love, peace, and care for the poor.
