Hi Everyone
I am pleased to announce that our breakfast club will reconvene on Sunday Sept. 27 at 11:00am.
Our guest author will be Jerry Amernic. He will take us into his latest book, "SLEEP WOKING".The book has been called "a sharp edge takedown of the contemporary fallacies about history that plaque Canada". He examines the legacies of such figures as John A MacDonald, Henry Dundas, and Egerton Ryerson, as well as Edward Cornwallis, the founder of Halifax and legendary B.C. judge Matthew Begbie. All these figures have been cancelled and vilified. Jerry looks at the true historical record of each and unearths some hard truths.
As this event takes place on the second day of Sukkot, weather permitting we will eat in the Sukkah.
A light breakfast will be served. A $5.00 donation to cover the cost of the breakfast would be appreciated.
You can order a copy of Jerry's book on Amazon for $19.95.
Hope you can make it.
Norm

"Dear Friends, with the High Holidays just a little over a month away, we are putting the final touches on the planning of this year's services and events at Sons of Jacob Synagogue. This year, we are doing things a little differently. At a time when Jewish communities across Canada and globally are feeling the realities of rising antisemitism, community strength and solidarity with Klal Yisrael-the whole of the Jewish people-matters more than ever. To this end, we have removed the High Holiday service fee for non-members this year in favour of maintaining a barrier-free open-door policy-just as we do for all other services throughout the year. Whether you are seeking spiritual connection, learning, community, or simply looking for a heimishe place to shmooze over some shmear-we'd love for you to join us.

אֵין הַתּוֹרָה נִקְנֵית אֶלָּא בַּחֲבוּרָה" "The Torah cannot be acquired, except in fellowship."

What we do ask is this, that you consider giving; whether of your time in supporting the synagogue, services, social events and learning, in extending a welcome to visitors and newcomers, connecting them to our community, in making a donation, choosing to become a member, or renewing your membership-your contribution-whatever it is-is vital not only to sustaining the shul, but supporting and fostering Jewish Community.

Wishing everyone a L'Shanah Tovah and Gmar Chatimah Tovah"
