Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Many Blessings on the Gurpurab of Guru Arjun Dev ji. Guru Arjun Dev ji was an ocean of love who prayed daily for this burning world. Guru ji knew the message of Gurbani is the only hope to save this world.
One day the son of King Jehingir, Khusru rebelled against his father. Jehingir ordered that anyone giving food or aid to Khusru would be killed. Khusru came to the free kitchen of Guru Arjun Dev ji, the langar. Guru ji said that langar is for all without distinction because God loves all his children. No one is a stranger in the Gurudwara, at the Gurus home. Guru ji refused to deny food and made sure Khusru was served with respect and love.
This angered Jahingir. Jahingir called Guru ji to his court and asked which God do you believe in. Guru ji at this time composed the shabad Koi Bole Ram Ram (see meaning below). Upon hearing these revolutionary words, most of Jahingirs court and advisors stood up in respect.
Jehingir gave Guru ji a choice. Guru ji could erase the Guru Granth Sahib and pay a small fine, and embrace Islam, or he could die. Guru ji said gurbani is a treasure, you can hurt my body and kill me but I will never tolerate any harm to Guru Nanaks Message.
Guru ji was starved and made to sit on a hot iron stove for days. Each second he smiled and said this torture is sweet, Gods will is sweet. Guru ji said I will take pain on my body happily in order to preserve gurbani. Guru ji was tortured under a law which said that the torture should be so severe that even a drop of blood should not spill before death (the body should be in utmost pain).
Guru ji gave his life for gurbani. Guru ji tolerated pain to his body but not the shabad. Today, rightfully we hurt when bani is disrespected, when the body of guru is disrespected, but we dont realize that every time we disobey gurbani, we are disrespecting Guru ji in the worst way. It is time we let go of our small mindedness and ego, and live the shabad. Many Gurpurab Blessings.

Frighten None, Fear None, One who follows this path is most wise - Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, History's greatest human rights defender, the only martyr in the world who sacrificed his life for a religion he did not believe in.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru JI Ki Fateh
Sadh Sangat Ji,

My soul wells up with pride and I can't help but pause in awe as I remember the great history behind today. Today we celebrate Guru Teg Bahadur. Guru Teg Bahadur ji was the embodiment of compassion. He was the greatest warrior, full of patience, and strength. Guru ji is evidence that true strength does not just lie in swiftness, but it lies in endurance and forbearance. It lies in patience and in the ability to bear all that comes your way. No matter how swift the wind may be, it can never overcome the mountain's forbearance. In the same way, Arungzeb's powerful hatred coupled with the might of his armies and Kingdom were no match for Guru Teg Bahadur's patience and determination.

Guru Teg Bahadur Ji spoke out against practices such as the Janeu and Tilak. He disagreed with them completely. For that reason, it is beautifully ironic that today Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is called the protector of the Tilak and Janeu. This is because when the cruel regime of King Arungzeb forcibly outlawed religious rituals they disagreed with, Guru Teg Bahadur took a stand.

Guru ji was kept in a small cage for over a month. He was starved and tortured daily. The goal of Arungzeb was to break Guru Ji's resolve. Arungzeb tried everything to convince Guru Teg Bahadur ji to give up his determination. Guru ji stood strong. Even though he himself was against the janeu, Guru ji believed all humans should be free to worship as they wish. Freedom of conscience should never be infringed upon. After months of torture, Guru Teg Bahadur was given a choice. Either he could give up his opposition or face death. Guru Teg Bahadur gave was beheaded with a smile on his face and prayers in his heart. Today, we have failed to share his legacy and God knows the world needs it more than ever.
