With a month to go until the opening of Design Centre Chelsea Harbour WOW!house, we're excited to share that alongside the façade, ADAM Director Darren Price will also be designing a garden folly in collaboration with Hector Finch, who are sponsoring the room.
The Garden Folly is conceived as a moment of theatre, of discovery and atmosphere. In this sense, it becomes a precursor to WOW!house 2026: a threshold moment that sets the tone, before the rest of the show reveals itself. Hector Finch is central to the concept, with lighting treated not as an accessory, but as one of the primary architectural ingredients. They understand glow, proportion, material and the emotional effect of light which is exactly what this project is about.
Collaboration sits at the heart of this piece. We will be working with Romo, who will provide fabric to help shape the atmosphere through texture, tone and layering. The folly will also be brought to life by Size Group, who are delivering the build.
As Darren says: ‘For me, the Folly is not just a display of architecture; it is an exercise in distilling atmosphere. It is about creating a small but powerful moment where architecture, light, craft and imagination come together.’
Though distinct in their expression, the façade and garden folly are conceived as part of the same architectural language, a cohesive family of elements, united in character and intent. We can’t wait to see the designs come to life.
