Friday’s readings: Acts 9 & Acts 28
_____________________________________
�In Acts 9, verses 15 and 16 tell us that Paul was chosen by Jesus to testify before the Gentiles and kings. Acts end with the record of Paul fulfilling his purpose; serving God doing what God had called and equipped him to do.

We are not the Apostle to the Gentiles, we are ourselves. However, God has given us spiritual gifts and God has placed us in our church. In the book written about the advancement of God’s Kingdom in 2024, will your name be recorded serving God with the gifts He has given you for the strengthening of His people?

Oh, that each one of us would know the blessing of serving God in the place He has brought us into, with the gifts that God has given us.

Thursday’s readings: Psalm 130 & Acts 28

“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”

Psalm 130:3,4 are wonderful verses. They are verses that you will want to post on your wall at home, on social media, or phone. These verses speak of the forgiveness we have in Christ Jesus and they link this forgiveness to us serving our forgiving God. ��

Are you forgiven? If the answer is no, then go to God and confess your sins. He will forgive your sins because of what Christ Jesus did on the cross when He did for your sins and mine. (1 John 1:9) ��

If your answer is “Yes; I am forgiven”, then praise God’s wonderful Name and serve Him! We are servants; we were made to serve. We are forgiven so that we might serve our great God who loves us and has something for us to do right here, right now. Serve Him!

Psalm 67 & Psalm 89 are two wonderful psalms that reflect the Old Testament truth that God’s plan has all along been to include all nations in His plan of salvation - not just the Jewish nation.

As you read these psalms today, join in the praise for we have been included in the salvation of God. His righteousness has been known to us and we are His children.

This week we'll be spending time in Acts 28, and all of our daily readings will connect with verse 23, “He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ”.

Tuesday’s readings: Acts 28, Romans 10 & 11

In Romans 10 and 11, the Apostle Paul teaches us a wonderful truth about the refusal of the Jews to listen to God and turn to Christ. Their refusal is our gain!

We are included in Christ because the Jewish people rejected Him. This doesn't apply to all Jewish people though! Many had become Christians by the time Paul wrote Romans 10 and 11, including the Apostle Paul himself.

But the overall group (we may say the Jewish nation), rejected Christ and through their rejection, accomplished the purposes of God - the bringing of many Gentiles into the right relationship with God through faith in Jesus.

There are all kinds of storms in our life. And it’s not necessarily “if” but “when”.

The God that sits enthroned over physical storms also sits enthroned over the storms that enter into our lives. ��

Jesus taught through storms, including the metaphor of two houses in Matthew 7:24-27. The metaphor of the house is our life, but not just for our life here on earth; it’s our eternity, our forever life that Jesus is talking about. “Not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” will enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

Storms often show us what our foundation is depending on.

Are we abiding in Jesus?

Are we attached to Him?

Or are we building our lives on stuff that is attached to nothing? ��

This is the redemptive purpose of the storm. May we come to the realization of our foundation in the middle of the storm. May we be able to sing these words in the middle of the storm: “It is well with my soul”.

“When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot Thou hast taught me to say,
“It is well, it is well with my soul!”

We are entering the last week in our series in the book of Acts. It has been a rich study to ponder the practices of the early church and followers of Jesus and to also study the example of the Apostle Paul. May we revisit this book even after we finish our study and continue to be challenged and encouraged by the book of Acts!

This week we'll be spending time in Acts 28, and all of our daily readings will connect with verse 23, “He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ”.

Monday's readings: Acts 28, Deuteronomy 29, Isaiah 6

Deuteronomy 29 was written approximately around 1450 BC; Isaiah 6, in 710 BC, and Acts 28, in 60 AD. Though written in 1,500 years, all three passages say similar things: the Jewish people refused to listen to God.

None of us are 1,500 years old, but if we look back over our 30, 40, 50, or 80 years of life, what would God say about us? Do we listen to Him or do we harden our hearts?
