Note that this will be at 9 am Manitoba time.
Some of you will remember Reverend Peter Stiller and his family who served our parish many years ago. Peter was more than just a beloved Minister. He and his family became family to many of our parishners and the connections have never wavered.
Peter's funeral will be livestreamed from Florida (where he and Anne have been living for years). Trinity Thalberg will be open if you would like to view the funeral livestream together. While we all mourn the loss of our beloved friend and faithful clergyman, together we can honour his life, celebrate the gifts he brought to ours and mourn the passing of his earthly existence. Please note the service time on the photo below is Florida time...it will be 9:00 am here in Manitoba.
Over the past few years, Peter has been through a lot with his health and the Lord called him home just before Christmas. While he is no longer suffering here on earth, his passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who loved him.
As a child, I remember "Pastor Stiller" being able to connect with everyone in the church. To this day, I remember how his children's sermons always resonated and connected with us as kids. I remember him using the "Smurfs" as a reference one Sunday (the original Smurfs at the time when they first were introduced to the world via cartoons). It wasn't surprising that he was up on all the stuff kids loved because he and Anne had their own three children who were doing all the same things the rest of us were.
I know many of us have our own memories of times spent with Peter, Anne, David, Suzanne and Katheryn. Family & friends remain in our hearts no matter how many miles physically separate us.
And if you were one of the ones who got to experience the full joy of a greeting from Peter, I ask you this, can you imagine the greeting all the loved ones who have passed before us got when he arrived at heaven's gates!? What a joyful reunion that must have been! I guarantee God has never been more enthusiastically hugged either!
Our prayers are with Anne, David, Suzanne, Katheryn and their families as well as with all of you! May the memories we all have bring more smiles than tears as we honour a good and faithful life served.
