Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre

Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre A place of spirit where both Indigenous and Christian spiritual beliefs are honoured.

The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is a place of spirit where both Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) and Christian spiritual beliefs are respected, shared and understood. In the circle, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women and men are nurtured for leadership roles in the United Church of Canada, other denominations, and in their communities as lay, diaconal and ordained ministers. Fr

om the strength of Elders’ wisdom, the Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre will foster teachings of respect, healing, and connectedness to be shared: for the benefit of individuals; and for restoring balance and wholeness among peoples and with all of creation; and for nurturing a prophetic voice.

We could use your help! We just had this pile of firewood delivered. It's one of the ways we get ready to welcome everyone who comes here.

We don’t turn anyone away who comes to learn traditional teachings.

And because of support from relatives like you over the years, our Centre has become a place where people seek out traditional teachings.

These teachings can’t just be learned from a book, or a screen. They need to be shared in person, on the land.

These teachings get passed on when we choose to make that possible. When we:
- tend the garden that teaches and feeds us
- support our elders and knowledge keepers who carry these teachings
- stock the woodshed for sacred fires

It takes many hands and hearts.

Can you pitch in by making a donation? Give here: www.sandysaulteaux.ca/give-learn

If you’re nearby and can lend a hand stacking wood, we’d love to hear from you too!

Traditional teachings point us toward right relationships with each other and all our relations. These teachings have so much to offer our hurting world in this moment.

There are more people making plans right now to come and hear teachings here this summer.

Will you help us be ready?

Can you make a gift to stock the woodshed, tend the garden or support an elder?

Can you give to welcome everyone who comes with care?

Lawrence Moore for the passionate message. Thank you Tarance Whiteye for traveling here too, to accept this Honoured Elder certificate. Thank you Maggie Dieter, Keeper of the Learning Circle, for walking with Brian George through the final phase of his studies here and to Brian for everything you've taught us along the way too. Thank you to students Donna Moore and Iona Laugher for leading our service and sending Brian on to the next phase of his ministry with such gifts. Thank you to Melody for learning Amazing Grace on the bagpipes at Brian's request! Thank you to Moderator of The United Church of Canada for joining us and blessing this place. Thank you Jordan and all the friends who were to be part of this day with us - including those who shared prayers and greetings and donations from afar!

Longing for a bit of time away? To soak in the blessings of summer? To find your way back to feeling grounded and present?

So many guests tell us that as soon as they step out of their car here, they can feel a deep sense of peace on this land. This is your chance to come and rest in that peace for a little while.

We're so pleased to have Lori Erhardt here from June 26-28 to offer a retreat for practicing presence through prayer, Yoga, Qi Gong and LovingKindness BlesSINGALONG.

Let us know you're interested by June 8!

Ceremony is a central part of life here at Sandy-Sautleaux. In May, our Keeper of the Circle, Aliesha Desjarlais (left) and our Wahkotowin Cultural Coordinator, Shanley Spence (right) took part in a fast and wanted to tell us a bit about what a special experience it was.
