St Edward's Presbyterian Cemetery

The St Edward's Presbyterian Church is located in the Town of Beauharnois on the shore of Lake St- Louis and the St-Lawrence River in Southwestern Quebec Province in Canada. The cemetery is located at the back of the church which is located at 72 Rue des Écossais between Rue Richardson and Rue du Laiterie. Walter Roach. The original church was built on land that

was donated by the Seigneurie of Beauharnois owned by the Ellice family of Scotland and England. The then Village of Beauharnois was the headquarters of the Seigneurie which covered a wide area of the Chateauguay Valley. The present cemetery is managed by a volunteer committee. The oldest inscriptions on the monuments in the cemetery date from the cholera epidemic of 1832 and definitely indicate burial there. This would indicate that the cemetery preceded the construction of the church.
