Thanks to all the wonderful donations from our community! ❤️

Today, Claire’s Closet donated seven pairs of shoes to help local kids start the school year off on the right foot.

If you missed seeing that this support was available and your child could use a new pair of shoes, please reach out to us or BDSS. We’d be happy to help get your child what they need.

This week, we’ll also be restocking the school closet with food, toiletries, socks and other everyday essentials. We’ll keep you posted with pictures of the restock so you know what’s available and what to expect.

And coming in September, we’ll be starting our Birthday Cake Initiative, helping make sure people in our community have a cake to celebrate their birthday. 🎂

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to donate and support people in our community. Your generosity helps make these initiatives possible.

Thank you so much! To all the children who came and the parents and grandparents who brought them; to the absolutely amazing young people who were leaders - summer students and volunteers, you are all amazing people!; to the Bashaw Youth Centre and Bashaw Community Resource Centre; the people who generously donated money and food, we appreciate you; Ms. England; and the amazing Lori. By The Sea was a huge success because of you!

It's Day 5 (Friday), our last day. A story about building on the beach or on a rock, some dance and the floor is ocean (full of sharks!) and a great snack. For our Big Craft today, we read the poem Footprints and then made two long burlap banners with painted footprints from everyone. Of course the poole were out for planning in, too!

It's Day 4 (Thursday) of By The Sea. A story about Jesus teaching from a boat, some fancy dancing, Would You Rather and Salamander Yoga, the Floor is an Ocean, a terrific snack (as always) and we made and floated some boats (with a couple of "submarines" and a "surf board"). Another fun day.

It's Day 3 (Wednesday) of By The Sea. A story about getting through a storm at sea, singing like pirates (you had to be there), dance and movement, a fun game with pool noodles and beach balls, a snack (each day - don't forget the snack!), a visit to the park and a cool craft, painting a picture and a frame with shells. Another great day, thanks everyone.

Day 2 of By The Sea (Tuesday). We had a story about Jesus calling the fishermen, sang, moved and danced with Ms. England, fed a shark and an angler fish (kind of) game and made a "stained glass" fish (okay, it's tissue paper). A little outdoors time at the park, too. Thanks for another great day, everyone!
