Salvation Army Barrie Bayside Mission Centre Back to Work Program provides a voucher for work boots. This program intends to serve those who cannot afford above items -- Income verification required.

BBMC is a non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter for men and families, clothing & household items vouchers, ID clinic and other referrals and assistance. Provides emergency assistance for families and individuals in need of clothing and household items via a voucher for goods at the Salvation Army Barrie Thrift Store. Please note that voucher program runs on donations so there may

be times we cannot provide depending on supply at Thrift Store. ID Clinic for those born in Ontario. Referrals from community partners accepted. Income verification required. Baby's Closet: diapers, formula and baby food while supplies are available. Case management services offered for families and individuals who want to break the cycle of poverty and to achieve independence through the Pathway of Hope Program. Christmas Assistance Program: for families and individuals for who require a food basket and toys for children. This program intends to serve those who missed the Christmas Cheer deadline or who could not access services from Christmas Cheer. Summer camp (residential) for one week. Registration for kids camp and Mom's & Tots camp opening soon. Small fee is required based on income. Services have been adjusted due to COVID 19. We honour the courage of first responders, the dedication of volunteers, and the resilience of communities that came together in the face of tragedy. As we reflect on this day, let us remember those who were lost, those who served and the countless acts of compassion that brought hope during a difficult time.🌹 We will never forget.

Remembering 9/11
In the days following 9/11, The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services teams mobilized across Canada to
support thousands of stranded travellers. Learn how volunteers provided food, shelter, practical assistance and
compassionate care from coast to coast.
Gander, NL
When 38 aircraft were diverted to Gander, the community came together to welcome thousands of stranded
passengers. The Salvation Army helped provide meals, registration services, shelter, and ongoing support until flights
could resume.
Vancouver, BC Airport
As flights were grounded across North America, thousands of travellers found themselves stranded at Vancouver
International Airport. Salvation Army volunteers responded quickly, serving food, refreshments, and comfort to those
waiting for answers.
Stephenville, NL Airport
With travellers unable to continue their journeys, Silver Birches Camp was opened as an emergency shelter. The
Salvation Army provided a safe place to stay, meals, and care for displaced individuals and families during a time of
uncertainty.
Windsor, ON
The impact of 9/11 was felt far beyond airports. In Windsor, Salvation Army EDS teams supported travellers stranded
at the Canada-U.S. border by providing food, hydration, and compassionate assistance when it was needed most.

In the days and weeks following September 11, 2001, Canadians from coast to coast stepped forward to help those
affected by the tragedy. From welcoming stranded travellers and opening emergency shelters to providing meals,
offering emotional and spiritual care, communities across Canada demonstrated remarkable compassion and service.
To honour those who answered the call, commemorative challenge coins have been created to recognize the
dedication of Salvation Army staff, volunteers, and responders who supported relief efforts across Canada and
assisted in New York City.
These coins serve as a lasting tribute to their commitment, sacrifice, and the spirit of helping others in times of crisis.
We are proud to recognize these individuals and the role Canadians played in the response to 9/11.

Today, Historica Canada has released a Heritage Minute highlighting the extraordinary response of Gander,
Newfoundland and Labrador, following the events of September 11, 2001.
As thousands of airline passengers were unexpectedly diverted to the community, local residents,
organizations, and volunteers came together to provide comfort and care. The Salvation Army played an
important role in the response, helping to register displaced travellers, serving meals, offering emotional
and spiritual care, and opening its doors to those in need.
Take a moment to watch this powerful story of compassion, service, and community during a time of
uncertainty.

🎉 We are excited to share that from January 1 to June 30 of this year, 30 individuals from our Men's Shelter and 4 families from our New Family Shelter were successfully housed!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. Your hard work, compassion, and dedication are helping people take the next step toward stability and hope. We can't wait to see how many more individuals and families we can support in the next six months! ❤️
