Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

Sermon

Words of Faith:

We believe in God the Creator, who made the world,
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son, who redeemed the world,
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God

Prayers of the People: Refrain; Let us pray to the Lord,

Lord, hear our prayer.

Confession and Absolution:

Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Passing of the Peace

Offertory Hymn: CP #528, O God, Our Help in Ages Past

Eucharistic Prayer:

O: May God be with you.
A: And also with you.
O: Lift up your hearts.
A: We lift them to God
O: Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
A: It is right to give God our thanks and praise.

We praise you and we bless you, holy and gracious God, source of life abundant. From before time, you made ready the creation. Your Spirit moved over the deep and brought all things into being; sun, moon, and stars; earth, winds, and waters; and every living thing. You made us in your image and taught us to walk in your ways. As a mother cares for her children, you would not forget us. Time and again you called us to live in the fullness of your love. Living among us, Jesus loved us. He broke bread with outcasts and sinners, healed the sick and proclaimed good news to the poor. He yearned to draw all the world to himself. On the night before he died for us, Jesus was at table with his friends. He took bread, gave thanks to you, broke it, and gave it to them, and said: "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me." As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine. Again, he gave thanks to you, gave it to them, and said: "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.“ Breathe your Spirit over the whole earth and make us your new creation, the Body of Christ given for the world you have In the fullness of time bring us with your first apostles and all your saints to feast at the banquet prepared from the foundation of the world. Amen

Lord’s Prayer:
And now, as our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

Breaking of the Bread:

O: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ
A: We being many are one body for we all share in the one bread.

Communion Hymn: CP #49, Draw near and Take

Prayer after Communion:

Glory to God, whose power working in us can do much more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation in the Church and Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Opening Song: Rock of Ages, You Will Stand

Gathering of the Community

The Spirit of the Lord is upon us and in the shelter of the Spirit, we will rejoice and be glad.
The heavens are telling the glory of God,
and beneath those very stars, we raise our spirits and proclaim that God is good.
The gifts of the spirit are offered to us,
and when we put them to use, we discover that our own gifts blend with the gifts of others into a wonderful song filled with hope, energy, life and love. In this house of prayer, we may find shelter, lift our hearts in prayer, and sing songs of praise.
May we find strength in knowing we are the body of Christ, enlivened by the Spirit, engaging the work of God in this world.
Come, let us worship our God.

Sermon

Music for Reflection: Spirit of Gentleness

Apostles Creed: Let us confess the faith of our baptism, as we say,

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People: We pray, Come Holy Spirit

The Passing of the Peace

Offertory Song: Thank You Lord

The Great Thanksgiving- Eucharistic Prayer

Celebrant: May God be with you.
People: And also with you.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to God.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
People: It is right to offer thanks and praise.

Celebrant, Holy God, Lover of creation, we give you thanks and praise for in the ocean of your steadfast love you bear us and place the song of your Spirit in our hearts. When we turn from your love and defile the earth, you do not abandon us. Your Spirit speaks through Huldah and Micah, through prophets, sages, and saints in every age, to confront our sin and reveal the vision of your new creation. Joining in the song of the universe we proclaim your glory saying:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: Gracious God, in the fullness of time you sent Jesus the Christ to share our fragile humanity. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection you open the path from brokenness to health, from fear to trust, from pride and conceit to reverence for you. Rejected by a world that could not bear the Gospel of life, Jesus knew death was near. His head anointed for burial by an unknown woman, Jesus gathered together those who loved him. He took bread, gave thanks to you, broke it and gave it to his friends, saying, “Take and eat this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, gave you thanks, and said “Drink this all of you, this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.” And now we gather at this table in response to his commandment, to share the bread and cup of Christ’s undying love, and to proclaim our faith.

All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Celebrant: Breathe your Holy Spirit, the wisdom of the universe, upon these gifts that we bring to you: this bread, this cup, ourselves, our souls and bodies, that we may be signs of your love for all the world and ministers of your transforming purpose. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, Creator of all, and we bless your holy name for ever.

People: Amen

Lord’s Prayer
Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver, Source of all that is and that shall be, Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven: The hallowing of your name echo through the universe! The way of your justice be followed by the peoples of the world! Your heavenly will be done by all created beings! Your commonwealth of peace and freedom sustain our hope and come on earth. With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.
For you reign in the glory of the power that is love, now and for ever. Amen. New Zealand Prayer Book of 1980

A: Now we are raised to new life.
