To be a Christian means to be courageous:”:
Good pieces of advice from Fr. Orest Fredina

• To be a Christian means to belong to Christ, to receive the touch of God in the Sacrament of Baptism and to make gratitude to God the meaning of one’s life.
• Many people try to achieve success in a certain field, but in everyone’s life there is a moment when the depth speaks. It is then that a person thinks about where I am moving – and there is no nationality or civilization that would not come to such an encounter.
• The lives of the saints are the Gospel in practice. Christianity is the practice of the Gospel for every day. Just as one cannot learn to swim from a book, one cannot learn to be a Christian in theory.
• Sunday is the day of God, the day of our freedom, it is the feast of Christ’s resurrection, victory over death, it is to a certain extent a manifestation of our freedom.
• It is impossible to be a Christian without Christ.
• To be a Christian is to remain faithful to Christ, not because you have to, but because your nature requires it.
• We are currently going through a period of suffering in the country, and there are two options: to fall, do nothing, complain, or to rise: to pray and work.
• Jesus’ disciples had the opportunity to live in the presence of the living God. This is how a Christian should live – to feel the presence of God. If we learn to kneel in the morning and ask for blessings, to walk in His presence all day, then when I play the violin, play football, walk or get off the bus, I kneel in the temple. Hence, the problem of concentration: if we are in another plane for 24 hours, it is difficult to stop instantly to pray; we must always feel the presence of God.
• Where there are Christians, there are no crowds, people are not blind: we need to learn to see each other every day, because how can you love God, whom you do not see, if you do not love your brother, whom you see? How we live shows how we believe.
• Christianity is always a choice. And in the world, it is always a choice, including whether to give a bribe or not.
• Being a Christian means being courageous; the symbol of Christianity is a lion, a king, and strength. It is also a lamb, a fish, but in no case a chameleon.
• Love is one and the same; it is the force by which the world is called to life. Those who are against it seek to destroy this harmony. You can be a true Christian, being a doctor, a teacher, or a soldier. There are people who take up arms to destroy, and there are people who take them up to protect.
• When you go to a meeting, you prepare. To cross the threshold of the church is to prepare.

🇨🇦Today we had a wonderful and joyous celebration of the Descent of the Holy Spirit at our small church. Big thank you to Father Bohdan Mironovich for leading us in prayer and to all those who brought the food and stayed for a fellowship. It was a very powerful feeling of a small but strong Church family, who stays together despite the difficult times! God is with us 🕊️

🇺🇦Сьогодні ми чудово та радісно святкували Зішестя Святого Духа у нашій маленькій церкві. Велика подяка отцю Богдану Мироновичу за те, що провадив нас у молитві, та всім, хто приніс їжу та залишився для спілкування. Це було дуже сильне відчуття маленької, але міцної церковної родини, яка залишається разом, незважаючи на важкі часи! Бог з нами 🕊️

8 запитань з відповідями про свято П’ятдесятниці або Зіслання Святого Духа 🌿🕊⛪️

❓Що ми святкуємо? ❗️Зіслання Святого Духа на апостолів через 50 днів після Воскресіння Ісуса Христа. Ще перед своїм воскресінням Ісус Христос сказав: « І проситиму я Отця, і дасть Він Вам іншого утішителя, щоб з Вами був повіки» (Йо, 14, 16).
❓Чому це важливо? ❗️Тому що через Святого Духа Бог дарує себе кожному з нас. Через цей дар кожна людина має можливість стати такою, як Бог і приймати участь у Божественній природі.
❓Що Святий Дух робить для людини? ❗️Обдаровує її багатством дарів. Тому ми і називаємо його у молитві «Скарбницею Благ». Також Святий Дух надихає кожну людину пізнавати її покликання в житті. Завдяки дії Святого Духа ми можемо навчитись дивитися на себе і на світ Божими очима та розрізняти добро і зло.
❓ Які є дари Святого Духа? ❗️Мудрість, розум, рада (вміння розв’язувати будь-яку ситуацію), мужність, знання, побожність і страх Божий.
❓Чому нам потрібна благодать Святого Духа? ❗️Благодать означає подароване благо (добро). Без благодаті Святого Духа людина не може спастися.
❓Чому ми називаємо цей день днем народження Церкви? ❗️Бо Святий Дух творить Церкву і оживляє її. В цей день спільнота Церкви вже не обмежується апостолами й учнями, як раніше. Її членами стають всі, що почули Благу Вість спасіння і увірували в слова апостолів.
❓Що таке Церква? ❗️Церква – це не просто місце, де ми приходимо на молитву. Це – Тіло Христове, і кожен з нас є його частиною. Головою Церкви є Ісус Христос, а Святий Дух є «душею тіла», тобто Церкви. Церква є місцем, де людина зростає до святості. Церква є місцем зібрання усіх людей, незалежно від їхньої культури і походження.
❓Чому ми називаємо ці свята – Зеленими? ❗️Бо у народі існує традиція на ці свята прикрашати храми та свої домівки зеленим гіллям. Зелений колір є символом нового життя. Проте Церква закликає людей шанобливо ставитися до навколишнього світу і не рубати молодих дерев, чи великих гілок лише для прикраси. Натомість краще зосередитися на духовній стороні цього свята – очиститися від власних гріхів і прикрасити своє серце Божими чеснотами.

❓What are we celebrating? ❗️The sending of the Holy Spirit on the apostles 50 days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Even before his resurrection, Jesus Christ said: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever" (John, 14, 16).
❓ Why is it important? ❗️ through the Holy Spirit, God gives himself to each of us. Through this gift, each person has the opportunity to become like God and participate in the Divine nature.
❓ What does the Holy Spirit do for a person? ❗️ Holy Spirit bestows us with a wealth of gifts. That is why we call Him the "Treasury of Blessings" in prayer. Also, the Holy Spirit inspires each person to know their calling in life. Thanks to the action of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to look at ourselves and the world through God's eyes and distinguish between good and evil.
❓ What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit?❗️Wisdom, understanding, counsel (the ability to resolve any situation), courage, knowledge, piety and the fear of God.
❓ Why do we need the grace of the Holy Spirit?❗️Grace means gifted good. Without the grace of the Holy Spirit, a person cannot be saved.
❓ Why do we call this day the birthday of the Church? ❗️Because the Holy Spirit creates the Church and revives it. On this day, the Church community is no longer limited to apostles and disciples, as before. All those who heard the Good News of salvation and believed in the words of the apostles become its members.
❓What is the Church?❗️The church is not just a place where we come to pray. This is the Body of Christ, and each of us is a part of it. The head of the Church is Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is the "soul of the body", that is, the Church. The church is a place where a person grows to holiness. The church is a gathering place for all people, regardless of their culture and origin.
❓ Why do we call these holidays - Green? ❗️Because there is a tradition among the people to decorate temples and their homes with green branches on these holidays. Green color is a symbol of new life. However, the Church urges people to treat the surrounding world with respect and not cut down young trees or large branches just for decoration. Instead, it is better to focus on the spiritual side of this holiday - to cleanse yourself of your own sins and decorate your heart with God's virtues.

O loving Jesus, while You lived on earth,
You were God inseparable from the Father,
and yet You truly shared our humanity.
Ascending in glory today from the Mount of Olives,
through Your great love, You lifted up our fallen nature
and enthroned it with the Father on high.
Therefore, the bodiless Powers were amazed and filled with awe
