Creating something out of nothing is remarkable. But perhaps something even harder to explain is the fact that God takes people who are genuinely broken, genuinely messed up, and slowly remakes them into something holy. Not by pretending the mess isn’t real but by working right through it. That’s not of our own doing, that is the gift of grace. Maybe you’ve been looking for a change but you’re not quite sure what that looks like. Maybe you’ve tried everything else and this is the one thing you haven’t. Giving God a real chance might be exactly what you need.

In what will be his last sermon for a few weeks before stepping away to care for his family, Rev. For the next four Sundays, Fr. Seth will be away. In his place, we get something good: a handful of trusted voices stepping into the pulpit to share what God has put on their hearts.

First up is Bill Pringle. Many of you already know him. He is our Deputy People’s Warden, and he has led worship with us before, faithfully and well.

He has spent this week praying and preparing, and we are looking forward to hearing what God has laid on his heart to share with us. Come and see, and worship with us this Sunday at 10am.

There is a story near the end of Judges most preachers skip entirely, one where a whole nation rises in outrage certain of its own righteousness, and marches to war without ever pausing to ask whether the war itself was right. It raises an uncomfortable question: how do you know when your certainty about being the good one is actually blinding you? This Sunday we sit with that story, and with what it might be exposing in us. 10am.

This week Rev. Seth Enriquez looks at a strange, almost funny story in Acts: seven brothers try to cast out a demon using a name that isn't theirs to use. It doesn't go well for them. Underneath the strangeness is a real question worth sitting with, are we seeking God, or just trying to use him?

In the book of Acts, seven brothers try to cast out a demon by invoking the name of Jesus, a name that wasn’t really theirs to use. They weren’t his followers. They’d just heard the name was powerful. It didn’t go well.

This Sunday we’re looking at that story, and what it actually means to have real access to God versus just knowing the right words. It raises a question worth sitting with either way: what’s the difference between believing something is powerful and actually being connected to it?

We’ll be unpacking it this week. Whether you’ve been part of a church your whole life or you’re just curious what this is all about, you’re welcome to come think it through with us.
