HUGE SHOUT OUT to our Friends at the Centre for Workforce Development!!! Their recent Identification and Employment Clinic held in Madoc and at St John's in Bancroft was a resounding success!!! St John's was thrilled to be part of it!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 21, 2026

CFWD’S FREE IDENTIFICATION & EMPLOYMENT CLINICS HELP MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE ACCESS ESSENTIAL SERVICES

The Centre for Workforce Development (CFWD) is pleased to announce the success of its two Free Identification & Employment Clinics held in Madoc and Bancroft this week. Together, the clinics helped 54 individuals access a total of 204 services, including identification, employment supports, housing resources, healthcare, and other community services.

The Madoc clinic took place Tuesday, August 18 at the Madoc Kiwanis Club, followed by the Bancroft clinic on Thursday, August 20 at St. John’s Anglican Church. Both clinics brought government services, employment organizations and community agencies together in one location, making it easier for individuals to access the support they need.

Government identification is a necessary step toward employment and stability. Without documents such as a birth certificate, health card, Social Insurance Number or photo identification, individuals can face barriers to finding employment, accessing training, obtaining housing, receiving income supports and connecting with healthcare.

“Workforce development is about more than connecting someone with a job,” says Sandi Ramsay, CEO of the Centre for Workforce Development. “People need access to the basic supports and services that allow them to participate in the workforce. These clinics bring those supports together and help people take the next step forward.”

Participants received assistance with government identification, employment and job search services, training opportunities, transportation, housing and income supports, physical and mental healthcare, referrals and connections to local community programs.

CFWD gratefully acknowledges Hastings County for making these clinics possible through Community Funding under its Homelessness Prevention Program. This funding provided the support needed to bring identification, employment and community services together for individuals facing barriers to employment, housing and essential services.

In addition, CFWD extends its sincere thanks to the organizations and service providers who supported the clinics:

Hastings County, ServiceOntario, Service Canada, St. John’s Anglican Church, Central & North Hastings Chamber of Commerce, Enrichment Centre for Mental Health, Agilec, Peer Support South East Ontario, Community Employment Services, Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte & District, Maggie’s Resource Centre of North Hastings, Community Care for Central Hastings, Community Living Madoc C.O.P.E Corporation, Bancroft Community Transit, and The Alzheimer Society.

“These clinics demonstrate the tangible impact of bringing community partners together to remove barriers, connect people with opportunities and help individuals take meaningful steps toward workforce participation and greater independence,” adds Ramsay.

The Centre for Workforce Development is your expert on the local labour market in Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington Counties. Funded in part by the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario, CFWD operates as one of 25 non-profit Boards across Ontario with a focus on local labour market research and workforce development.
