Bannockburn Community Church

Bannockburn Community Church Bannockburn Community Church is an interdenominational Muskoka church celebrating more than 125 years Gordon, who requested the church be named Bannockburn.

This congregation has met every Sunday during the summer months for over 125 years. The present site on the shore of Lake Muskoka near Acton Island was given by Albert E. The first services were held in the new (and present) location in the summer of 1922. The charming little church on the edge of Lake Muskoka has been described as “the church in the wildwood.” The interior and the exterior of the

church have been carefully maintained in their original form in order to be true to its Muskoka character and ambience. Many visitors have commented on its unique beauty. If you have a passion for Muskoka, it will be enhanced by a visit and participation in worship services at Bannockburn. In 1938, the congregation elected to become a non-denominational church and the name became Bannockburn Community Church. The priority in pastoral arrangements has
been, and still is, the high standard of ministers from different denominational backgrounds and their understanding of the needs of an interdenominational seasonal church here in Muskoka. Serving primarily summer residents and visitors of different church backgrounds, generations and changing situations, Bannockburn’s ability to balance tradition and new elements in its planning and programs has been part of the reason for its continued strong support over the past many years.
