Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Parish of Athabasca A parish of the Western Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. Services are mostly in English. It is orthodox, but not Jewish.

The Orthodox Catholic Church is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is catholic, but not Roman. It isn't non-denominational - it is pre-denominational. It has believed, taught, preserved, defended and died for the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost 2000 years ago.

Saint Cyril was a close relative of the Patriarch of Alexandria, Theophilus, whom he succeeded as Patriarch after his repose. Cyril acted decisively to combat the heresy of the Novatianists, who, taking great pride in their purity and rigorism, denied the possibility of saving repentance to those who had committed mortal sins or apostatized from the faith, and rejected the possibility of a second marriage. He also worked to strengthen the position and authority of the Church in Alexandria, and refuted the heresies of Nestorius, Patriarch of Constantinople. Nestorius denied to the Virgin Mary the title Theotokos (God-Bearer, or Mother of God), and thereby undermined the doctrine of the Incarnation of God, implying both a divine and a human subject in Christ, rather than one divine person having two natures, fully God and fully man. He was anathematized at the Third Ecumenical Council of Ephesus in 431. Saint Cyril reposed in the Lord in the year 444, and is venerated as one of the great teachers and defenders of the Faith.

And divinely-inspired enrichment of hierarchs,

From the well-springs of the Savior,

BLESSED IHOR, GREAT PRINCE OF KYIV AND CHERNIHIV

Given the rule over Kyiv and Chernihiv by his dying brother Prince Vsevolod, the pious and God fearing Ihor was quickly betrayed and overthrown in the ceaseless strife and conflicts of 12th century Kyiv, with his rule lasting only three weeks. He was imprisoned and abused by those who had seized power, but his life was spared for a time, and he was permitted to become a monastic at the Theodorov monastery. There he spent his days in prayer, often weeping, until even his very existence was deemed a political threat by the authorities of the day, and he was dragged from the monastery and killed by the mob. He bore all of this with grace and without violent resistance, for which he is called a Passion-Bearer in the Orthodox tradition.
