Statement from the Islamic Society of New Brunswick

The Islamic Society of New Brunswick is deeply saddened and outraged by the reported hate-motivated assault on a Muslim woman in Moncton, which occurred in the presence of her 7-year-old son.

No one should ever be targeted because of their faith, and no child should have to witness such a traumatic act against a parent.

This incident raises serious concerns about the rise of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate in our province. We call on Premier Susan Holt, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, municipal leaders, and law enforcement to publicly condemn Islamophobia and take meaningful action to ensure the safety and dignity of all New Brunswickers.

We stand in solidarity with the victim and her family, pray for her complete recovery, and reaffirm our commitment to building communities where everyone can live free from fear, hatred, and discrimination.

There is no place for Islamophobia or hate in New Brunswick.

🕌 Alhamdulillah, we saved Amherst Masjid… but our journey isn’t over.

With the mercy of Allah ﷻ and your incredible support, the closing is complete, and this house of Allah is now secured for generations to come, InshaAllah.

Now we have entered Phase 2.

To save this masjid, we had to take approximately $95,000 in Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loans), which we must repay over the next few years. We also need to complete essential renovations, including:
🔹 Washrooms
🔹 Wudu area
🔹 Security upgrades
🔹 Doors and windows

This masjid is the only masjid serving Amherst and the surrounding communities. Your support today will help us complete what we started together.

🕌✨ OUR JOURNEY TO A STRONGER MASJID – ALHAMDULILLAH ✨🕌

By the mercy of Allah ﷻ and the support of the community, we are blessed to share the journey of Amherst Masjid in clear stages:

📍 Stage 1 — COMPLETED
Alhamdulillah, the closing has been successfully done. The masjid is now secured.

🔧 Stage 2 — CURRENT PHASE
Renovations are in progress (washrooms, wudu area, and security upgrades).

💳 Stage 3 — NEXT GOAL
Paying off the remaining Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loans) so the masjid can become fully debt-free.

🏁 Stage 4 — FINAL VISION
A fully completed, safe, and welcoming Islamic centre for generations to come.

💔 Although the masjid is saved, our responsibility continues. We still need support to complete renovations and repay approximately $95,000 Qarz-e-Hasna over the coming years.

🕌✨ JUMU’AH MUBARAK ✨🕌

This Jumu’ah is extra special for our community.

🎉 Alhamdulillah! Amherst Masjid has officially been secured and the closing was completed on June 1. What once seemed impossible has become reality through the mercy of Allah ﷻ, the support of the Ummah, and countless du’as.

This house of Allah is now saved and will remain a masjid for generations to come, InshaAllah.

🤲 We invite everyone to join us this Friday and thank Allah for this tremendous blessing.

While we celebrate, our journey continues. To save this masjid, we relied on approximately $95,000 in Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loans), which must be repaid over the next few years. We also have important renovations ahead, including doors, windows, wudu facilities, washrooms, and security upgrades.
