Alliston Christian Reformed Church is a relatively small church (~125 members) founded by Dutch immigrant families who settled here after WWII. Over its 67 years the buildings structure and its programs have expanded to meet the needs of the congregation. In particular, we are proud of our community programs including a strong young girls club called GEMS (grade 2-8) and an equivalent club for young boys called Cadets (grades 3-8). The church also hosts a yearly Vacation Bible School, turning the building into a juggle, ocean, farm and any other exciting theme used to share Gods word. Friendship, Coffee break and a men’s and women’s bible study groups are among other activities held in the church each week.
Despite our small size our church is gearing towards becoming a stronger member of our community, with doors open to whomever chosen to walk through them. We plan to also use our website as an integral part of who we are, by connecting our members and our community. The main purpose/focus of the website is to encourage and promote fellowship, create and foster connections, and provide resources and opportunities for networking and living a more ‘shalom’ filled life. Each week our website is also updated with the latest sermon to be listened to during the week as a podcast.
Although Covid has altered our capacity to join together for a Sunday service and to conduct our many programs in their usual fashion we continue to praise God for our little church in Alliston and its history of being a welcoming and lively building to connect in faith.
