Queen Isabella, our patroness

Was born in Alcazar, kingdom of Avila, Spain, on April 22, 1451. She married Ferdinand, heir of Aragon, at 18 years of age, on October 19, 1469. She was crowned Queen of Castile on December 13. 1474, and lived much of her life under duress of severe struggles for power within the State. Nevertheless, she conquered Kings, and unified her beloved country under the holy sign of Christianity. A brave and virtuous woman,In addition to adversity resulting from shifting center of power in the fifteenth century Europe, Isabel also had to contend with her own personal tragedy, losing prematurely many persons closest to her Queen Isabella, our Patroness Continues… including a son and a daughter. She helped Christopher Columbus undertake the greatest voyage of history and therefore is perhaps better known for her benevolent sponsorship of the discoveries of the new world where Christianity was yet unknown. Her preservation of Christianity is emulated through the Daughters of Isabella, who seek to promote the welfare of the community and to follow, in mutually supportive ways, the teachings and rules of the Catholic Church.

Here is a message from St. Vincent de Paul – St Bernadette

We just recently gave St. Bernadette Catholic School grocery cards to support their breakfast/snack program now that the children are back in school. They know that the donation is from” St Bernadette Parish” through the Daughters of Isabella and Saint Vincent de Paul. They were very grateful for the help from our Parish for this important program.

Thank you for you continued support as we work our way through these unusual times.
Thanks for all you do for our Parish.

This Donation is due to our support of the Delta Bingo. Without them we could not help our charities.

(February 26th 1936 – April 11th 2021) -
It is with sadness that Ronalda, Melanie (Gerry), Alicia, Brad (Brenda), Derek and Jennifer announce their passing of the mother Marian at the age of 85. A forever resident of Oshawa and Whitby, she was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years, Ronald MacCarl and her parents Leo Gabourie and Vera Kingston. Dear grandmother to 9 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 8 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Ken Gabourie of Calgary. Dear aunt to Kent MacCarl and Tina Atkinson. A nursing assistant for several years, she will be remembered as an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Joseph the Worker Parish. A private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker with interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby. Marian’s family would like to thank Whitby Shores for their care and compassion during their mother’s illness.
