A Proud Moment for Abbotsford, Canadian Muslims, and the Global Muslim Community 🇨🇦
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We would like to share an inspiring and historic story from our own community.
Brother Isa Rosli from Abbotsford, BC is preparing to participate in the Golden Globe Race 2026, one of the most difficult and dangerous sailing challenges in the world.
This is not an ordinary race.
It is a solo journey around the world by sea — non-stop, unassisted, and without modern navigation tools. No GPS. No internet. No stopping on land. No outside assistance. One person, one boat, across the world’s oceans.
Brother Isa will be sailing alone on his yacht, SV Olleanna OE32, in a journey that may take close to one full year. The race begins in July 2026, and he is currently in France preparing and repairing his boat.
What makes this even more meaningful is that Brother Isa Rosli is representing not only Canada, but also the Muslim community. He is believed to be the first Muslim to participate in this extraordinary global sailing competition, and he is the only participant from Canada.
SubhanAllah, this is a matter of great courage, discipline, tawakkul, and determination. He has truly placed Abbotsford on the world map.
This journey carries real risks: the open ocean, extreme weather, isolation, an older yacht, limited supplies, and no modern communication or navigation. We therefore request Muslim communities across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and all provinces to remember Brother Isa in their duas.
May Allah protect him on the oceans, grant him strength, safety, wisdom, patience, and a successful return.
May Allah make this journey a source of inspiration and khair. Ameen.
🤲 Please keep Brother Isa Rosli in your prayers and share this message with your local masjid and Muslim community groups across Canada.

Sailing around the world alone, for 300 days, pushes these sailors to their physical and emotional limits in the Golden Globe Race.
