Another great Fishing Derby! 😊

The 2026 derby included lots of time to enjoy the outdoors, connect with one another, and hear about the importance of being part of God’s family!

A huge thanks to Justin Ott and all the folks from our church who made the Fishing Derby happen, and also a shoutout to the various businesses that helped sponsor the event:

ANNOUNCEMENT: Yesterday, at our Special Meeting, we voted to overwhelmingly AFFIRM Jamie Toews for the part time position of Pastor of Congregational Life!

Jamie (pictured here with her husband Erik, and two of their children, Miriam and Benjamin), will begin in her role this month. Join us in welcoming Pastor Jamie to the team!

In addition to affirming Jamie’s pastoral role, the results of all other votes were also AFFIRMATIONS:

Discernment Committee Members
• Ed Balzer - 2-year term
• Crystal Bartel - 2-year term
• Danielle Krahn - 2-year term

New & re-newing Council members
• Eldon Friesen - Renewing for another 3-year term
• Dan Penner - Renewing for a 1-year term as treasurer
• Gord Dickson - New Council Member on a 3-year term

HVAC & Roof Project
• Approval of up to additional $200,000 spending

We were honoured to celebrate Pastor Connie Siebert today for her last official day as part of our Pastoral Staff!

Connie has been a fearless leader, a powerful caregiver, and a committed pastor for almost 20 years of ministry at South Abbotsford Church. We will miss her dearly as part of our pastoral staff, but we are glad to have her continue as part of our church family. ❤️

Today Connie herself said that today is just the end of her “paid” work at the church…but she is still so excited to serve Jesus at South Abbotsford and beyond! To God be the glory for His faithfulness to us, even as we don’t deserve it. His grace is GREATER!

A reminder that we have a Special Meeting tomorrow at 12:00 Noon, following the second service.

There are many things to share, discuss, and, of course, vote on. All are welcome, but only members can officially vote, you can register for your ballot in the foyer on Sunday, May 31, between services.

We will be voting on Discernment Committee/Council Appointments, Jamie Toews as a Pastoral Candidate, and the HVAC & Roof Project.

Well, that was fun! Our first Charity Garage Sale at South Abbotsford Church was a huge hit!

There was a lineup of eager shoppers ready to go at 10am when the doors opened, and many amazing items were scooped up in short order! It was so cool to see members of our community finding treasures to take home at a great price, and all of it done to support the ministries of MCC!

ALL the proceeds of this Garage Sale are going straight to MCC, and any of the items that are leftover will be donated to MCC this week for them to sell in their stores.
