The shofar isn’t background noise.

It is a wake-up call.

As Yom Teruah approaches, the sound of the shofar reminds us to examine our hearts, return our attention to God and prepare ourselves for the sacred days ahead.

It asks a powerful question:

Are we listening?

The appointed time is drawing near.

Yom Kippur - The Day of Atonement - calls us to reflection, repentance, reconciliation, and gratitude for the incredible mercy of God.

As Messianic believers, this appointed time also points us powerfully toward Yeshua, our Messiah, and the atonement He has provided for us.

🕊️ On Saturday, September 19, Shabbat Shel Shalom will gather for a special Yom Kippur + Communion observance as we prepare our hearts before the Lord.

📯 WHAT IS THE SHOFAR?

Have you ever wondered why the shofar is such an important part of Yom Teruah?

The shofar is an ancient trumpet traditionally made from a ram’s horn. Throughout Scripture, its sound called God’s people to gather, remember, prepare and pay attention.

Yom Teruah literally points us toward a day of sounding/blowing - a day when the shofar takes centre stage.

📖 “You shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.” Leviticus 23:24
