One of IM Canada's greatest needs for the past decade has been to find someone to fill the role of Associate Director and who will eventually become Gene's successor. Many, many people have prayed and trusted God with us, and God has answered.

We are excited to introduce Jason Johnson as our new Associate Director. Gene and I have known Jason and his wife Jana for about 17 years. They've participated on two of our evangelistic English-learning family camps in Slovakia, where Jana was born and raised. Their background is in pastoral ministry.

Welcome to IM Canada, Jason and Jana (and family!) They attended the staff conference in Poland with us and our extended IM family enjoyed meeting them. They later traveled to Romania and Slovakia with Gene to see several IM projects firsthand. We are excited to onboard them and look forward to seeing how God will grow the ministry using the skills they will bring.

Gene and Grace are hosting our booth at Mission Fest BC in Chilliwack this weekend. The event is kicking off with 700 students coming together to worship Jesus and learn about what God is doing around the world.

"I shared the story of Abraham with the kids and the importance of obedience and following God that you can see in Abraham’s entire life. When God told Abraham, “This is the time for you to move,” Abraham did, leaving his land and his family and heading to a foreign land, without knowing where he was going. This was the challenge I gave the children to think about: “How did Abraham move to a place he didn’t know? And how did he have the faith and obedience to do so?” Good questions and challenges, and planting seeds of faith and obedience in children at this age is very important."

~Mina lives in Egypt but follows God’s leading to other countries to preach the gospel and work with children and others. He recently planned a short-term trip to Kenya.

Doug recently gave a sermon in which he spoke about Jesus feeding the 5,000, and he did the math on approximately how many individual meals we’ve served through the years here at the River of Life Ministry in Romania. He averaged about how many people have been living here, times three meals per day, times how many per week, and per year, times 27 years, and he came up with about a million meals served through here! We’ve never once sat down at the table and not had a meal to eat in all those 27 years! That is a miracle—something only God could do! This verse came to my mind when I heard that.

“Truly, truly, I say to you. Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12.

"I serve by sewing and making reusable hygiene pads for girls, and I witness how God cares about even the smallest details in their lives. Out of His love for me, He gave me the privilege of being part of His ministry and of caring for girls from many places. I’ve sent reusable hygiene pads to girls in Lebanon, Turkey, Uganda, South Sudan, and even to Sudanese girls in Egypt."

Some donors support our IM staff by giving finances. Others give time, and others give material items such as clothing and blankets. One woman made a couple dozen baby blankets.

Gene and Grace recently traveled to Egypt to attend the Middle East staff conference and delivered these blankets to staff in Cairo to distribute to Egyptian and Sudanese mothers.

Michał Dąbrowski serves in Otwock, Poland, where he desires to reach people through evangelism and disciple young people:

"I am a bit like the Polish Ray Comfort and I run a street evangelism ministry in Poland. In cooperation with Open Air Campaigners (OAC), I conduct evangelism trainings for churches in Poland.

At one evangelism event I talked to an ex-satanist who was very aggressive and vulgar at first. God encouraged me to ask him questions and listen to his story. I read Ephesians 2 to him and the guy was moved to tears because it described his life. He was also lost because he didn’t know what the truth was and was distrustful of religion/spirits.

At the end he agreed to pray to the Truth so that it would reveal itself to him. I gave him the Bible, and he was happy for the conversation and hugged me. I didn’t think that this would be the way to say goodbye to an ex-satanist who at first despised Chistians. Jesus seeks the lost!

When I needed new shoes, a Christian sister from church came to me and said that God had encouraged her to buy me shoes. The store had the last size of the ones I wanted and they were on sale. Then one Christian brother called me and said he would bring me a box of food. Matthew 6:25-34 came true, literally! God cares for His children!"
