Why did Jesus speak in parables, and why did they so often unsettle people?

In this reflection, we explore how the parables of Jesus were never meant to simply comfort or entertain, but to challenge assumptions and confront how we see the world. Throughout the Gospels, His teaching often provoked strong reactions, even hostility, because it called people to see differently and respond to the Kingdom of God.

Rather than offering easy answers, the parables of Jesus invite transformation, disruption, and deeper discipleship.

Can one Bible translation become the final authority for Christian faith?

In this video, we explore the dangers of treating a single English translation of Scripture as the only inspired or acceptable version of the Bible. While translations like the King James Version have had a significant historical impact, Christians have always engaged with Scripture across languages, cultures, and time.

This conversation invites a more thoughtful approach to Bible translation, one that recognizes the richness of Scripture in its original languages and the importance of ongoing engagement with modern translations for today’s church.

Why does Scripture sometimes feel clear in one moment, and deeper the next time we return to it?

In this reflection, we explore how Christians encounter the Bible over time, and how passages of Scripture can continue to reveal new meaning as we grow in faith. Rather than “figuring it out” once and for all, we are reminded that we only see in part, and that faith is a continual turning toward God in humility and dependence.

Rooted in the language of Morning Prayer and the Apostle Paul’s words about seeing “through a glass darkly,” this conversation points us back to the heart of Christian worship: not ourselves, but God.

Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit doesn’t just visit on Sundays, He sends us out into the world as ambassadors. Faith is lived daily as God works through who we are, shaping our ordinary lives into something sacred and purposeful.

This video explores the Old Testament as a story of people and their complex relationship with God, emphasizing that faith doesn't remove discomfort. We discuss how the Christian proclamation of Jesus Christ taking on flesh offers a deeper understanding of the love of God, recontextualizing the entire Bible. It helps us see how all scripture, as Jesus himself indicated, ultimately points to him.

Some Bible verses are difficult to read, especially the passages about God’s anger and judgment in the Old Testament. But do those verses mean God hates humanity… or is there something deeper going on? Fr. Al and Trevor explore how Christians, especially within the Anglican tradition, wrestle honestly with the hardest parts of Scripture while holding onto the truth that God loves us.

Pentecost is not just about witnessing the coming of the Holy Spirit, it’s about receiving Him.

The Spirit of God does not remain distant or abstract. He comes within us, transforming fear into courage and hesitation into faithfulness. Through the Holy Spirit, Christians are strengthened to stand firm in Christ, speak truth with boldness, and live with renewed hearts.

Pentecost reminds us that God still calls, still fills, and still empowers His Church today.

Can we trust the Gospels if they tell the story of Jesus differently?

Many people notice differences between the Gospel accounts in the Bible and wonder if they are contradictions. This video explores whether these differences affect the reliability of Scripture, or if they reflect different perspectives on the same historical events.

It also looks at how people encounter Jesus Christ in real life, the role of the Holy Spirit in understanding the Gospel, and why the message of the resurrection leads to different responses.

Do you have to believe everything before going to church?

In the Anglican tradition, church isn’t just for people who have it all figured out. It’s a place for those exploring faith, asking honest questions, and seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you’ve felt unsure, disconnected, or hesitant about church, this is an invitation to come as you are—and begin the journey.
