What Would It Look Like for the Body of Christ in Abbotsford to Come Together?
Our heart is for the Body of Christ in Abbotsford. 💛
Not just one church.
Not one denomination.
Not one worship style.
Not one ministry name.
Not one expression.
…but the Body of Christ.
Many parts, many callings, many traditions, many histories, and many ways of faithfully serving Jesus.
I believe we have an earnest and beautiful opportunity before us in this city.
For far too long, the Church has often been divided among ourselves.
Sometimes by denomination.
Sometimes by style.
Sometimes by history, misunderstanding, preference, or hurt.
Some of our differences are real, and they should be handled with wisdom, humility, and honesty.
But division was never meant to define the people of God.
Jesus prayed,
“That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you… so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:21)
Our unity is not just for us.
It is a witness to the world.
What would it look like if we started with what unites us - Jesus Christ?
His death and resurrection.
His gospel.
His Word.
The call to love God, love one another, and love our city. 🕊️
Paul writes,
“There is one body and one Spirit…
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
one God and Father of all.”
(Ephesians 4:4-6)
What would it take for us to move toward one another with humility instead of suspicion?
What would it look like to honour what God is doing in another church, even when it looks different from our own?
What would it look like to pray together, worship together, serve together, and seek the good of Abbotsford together?
Unity does not mean pretending our differences do not exist. It does not mean every church becomes the same. It does not mean every conviction, tradition, or expression gets flattened.
But maybe unity begins when Jesus becomes bigger in our eyes than the things that have kept us distant from one another.
Maybe it begins with a willingness to listen.
To honour.
To pray.
To repent where needed.
To bless instead of compete.
To build bridges instead of walls.
Scripture says,
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
So I want to ask an honest question….
What would it take for the Body of Christ in Abbotsford to come together in a meaningful, humble, and lasting way?
What would need to change in us?
What would we need to lay down?
What would we need to recover?
What would we need to build?
➡️ We would love to hear from pastors, leaders, worshippers, intercessors, ministries, churches, and anyone who carries a heart for Jesus and for this city. 💛
Not to start with a program.
Not to build another platform.
Not to promote one name or one ministry.
But to begin a conversation.
We believe Abbotsford has a beautiful opportunity before it.
An opportunity to see the Church come together again.
An opportunity to worship together.
An opportunity to serve together.
An opportunity to love this city together.
An opportunity to show that Jesus is greater than the things that divide us.
What could it look like for the Church in Abbotsford to truly come together around Jesus? 🕊️
