THE DAY I ALMOST LEFT MY CHURCH
I remember the phone call.
"Are you still going to that church? Did you hear what they said about the pastor?"
My heart dropped. The rumour was bad. My friend sounded convinced. For a moment I was shaken. I almost packed my Bible and never went back.
Then I remembered Psalm 112 verse 7. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings. His heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
That night I prayed. Lord, did You plant me here or did I plant myself.
No answer came fast. But peace did. Deep peace. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the day God told me to join this church. I was not moved by people. I was moved by God.
I saw people leave that week. Offended. Angry. Following voices, not the Voice.
But I stayed.
Not because my pastor is perfect. Not because the church has no problems. I stayed because my heart is strengthened in God. I am not tossed by every wind of opinion. I do not make decisions based on gossip, pressure, or the crowd.
A week later the truth came out. The rumour was a lie. Those who left missed a mighty move of God that Sunday.
I asked myself three questions that saved me.
1. Did God tell me to leave?
2. Am I offended or am I obedient?
3. Am I following Jesus or following feelings?
James 1 verse 8 says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. I chose stability. I chose the Word. I chose God.
Today my roots are deep. I am planted. I am bearing fruit. Because I followed what God said, not what people said.
A Christian has a strengthened heart. He is not easily shaken. She hears God, obeys God, and stays where God has placed her until God says move.
Stand firm family. Be rooted. Don’t be shaken.
Which church did God plant you in? Are you still there?
