SERMON BY APOSTLE PONO
MESSAGE TITLE: CHOSEN AND SENT BY GOD
For the Apostle to stand before us is not because he wanted to, but because God chose and sent him to do what he is doing. When God sends a man, He equips him. It may be difficult for someone walking in the natural, full of unbelief, to understand that the one who stands before them and preaches the gospel is not just an ordinary man. Regardless of their age, they have been sent by God and empowered with supernatural abilities.
When God sends a man, what an ordinary man cannot do, he will do because the one Who sent him, will go beyond the natural to bring a solution. A man sent by God is empowered by God to fulfill a divine assignment.
John 1:6–7 (KJV) shows us that John was sent by God. There was a purpose why John had to come. He had to fulfill his purpose. We may be born by our earthly parents, but we are from above. Our parents became the way through which we entered this world to fulfill His purpose. We are not born only for our families but for nations. Though John was born of Elizabeth, he was sent by God.
John 1:7–8 (KJV) teaches us that we are witnesses of the Light, meaning Authority. There was a reason why John the Baptist had to be born, showing how God put things in order. Because He knew Jesus was coming, John was appointed to baptize the Messiah. Therefore, there is an order God places in our lives; everything has been divinely orchestrated.
In addition to John’s example, God sent Moses during his time to deliver the Israelites, showing that in every generation God sends a man.
Jeremiah 1:4–5 (KJV) says before He formed you, He knew you, showing you are not a mistake. This emphasizes that your life is in God’s hands. Be thankful for where God has placed you. The place of your birth, your background, and even your challenges are not accidental. God knows why you are where you are, so that tomorrow you may have a story to tell.
Jeremiah 1:5–9 shows that to God Jeremiah was already a prophet, despite his age. It prompts us to ask: Do you know what the Lord has ordained you to be? It is important to discover who you are.
Jeremiah felt disqualified because he was young, as seen in verse 7. There are people who reason like children yet they were meant to reason like adults. The moment you say “I am a child,” that becomes a barrier. Verse 9 shows that when the Lord has chosen you, it is no longer about you, but about the One who has sent you. Similarly, Solomon was a man full of wisdom, and many listened to him because he spoke what God told him to speak.
In addition, it is important to remember that a gift can open doors for you and make you sit among the great. The Lord has put that idea inside you to glorify Himself through you. Many people want instant results (miracles), but God’s process requires patience. Follow the dream God has given you.
Galatians 1:10 (KJV) emphasizes that if your focus is on pleasing people, it becomes difficult to fulfill God’s assignment.
Going back to the book of Jeremiah, God told him not to be afraid. This teaches us that when we do what God tells us to do, we will see the fruits. When we remain focused on God’s calling and purpose, we will be like palm trees, we may bend but not break.
Acts 10:38 (KJV) emphasizes Peter’s boldness came from the power of God. When God appoints a person, He also anoints them. The grace of God accomplishes what human qualifications cannot. What comes from God cannot be stopped by man.
