From 16-24 February 2017, the translation team of the Wayeyi Bible Translation Project conducted a reviewer orientation in 6 villages: Maun, Gumare, Ikoga, Seronga, Gunotsoga, and Jao. More than 100 reviewers both received training in review skills and contributed to the quality of the Shiyeyi Bible translation by reviewing the early chapters of Matayiwo (Matthew). These chapters are now ready to be checked by a United Bible Societies consultant at the end of March. By the grace of God, we hope to have all of Matayiwo ready to publish in 2018.

We are asking for help with the name of a tree in Shiyeyi. It is the tree on this website - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrrh
We are working on the passage from Matayiwo 2:18, where the wanyana wa watjaa are bringing gifts to Jiso. The third gift that they bring is the dried sap from this tree. This sap was used in those days as a medicine for many things, especially on wounds as an antiseptic and painkiller. The scientific name for this type of tree is commiphora. We know that there are some commiphora trees here in Botswana. Two of the commiphora varieties here are called (in Setswana) mokomoto and moroka. If you know someone who can help us with the name of this tree in Shiyeyi, tell us so that we can make our translation of this passage more accurate and informative.
