Scripture: Isaiah 53:1-12
As we approach Easter, we are reminded that God has revealed His love to His people in powerful ways. In this time, many Christians are preparing their hearts to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, while others may not yet believe in God. Even so, we are called to continue trusting and believing in Him, even when faith feels difficult.
Just as dry soil causes trees to struggle and suffer, life can bring seasons of hardship to us. But we must remember that Jesus also suffered for us physically and spiritually. His suffering was not meaningless, it was the price paid for our redemption. Today, our suffering may not look the same as it did in ancient times, but we still face challenges, trials, and situations that test our faith.
The Word of God reminds us in Isaiah 53 that the Messiah would be rejected and suffer greatly for the sake of others. The prophet declares, “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.” Yet through that suffering, God’s plan of salvation was fulfilled. Jesus carried our pain, bore our sins, and through His wounds we are healed.
God’s love for humanity is so great that He gave His only Son to die for us on the cross. This is the greatest demonstration of love the world has ever known. Because of this sacrifice, we must believe that God is with us, guiding us through every difficulty and every situation we face.
Often, when we choose to do what is right, we may face opposition. This also happened during the time of Jesus. Even while He healed the sick and shared the good news, some people opposed Him and doubted Him. Yet He continued His mission because He came to fulfill God’s purpose.
As we gather together and prepare our hearts for Easter, let us remember that the love of God is greater than anything we face. His name is above every other name, and the Scriptures remind us that those who call upon His name shall be saved.
The blood of Jesus carries power, power to break chains, to heal hearts, and to destroy what the enemy meant for harm. Because of this, we must remain patient and faithful, waiting on the Lord. In His perfect time, He will answer us and reveal His glory in our lives.
Let us therefore enter this Easter season with faith, gratitude, and hope, remembering the suffering, sacrifice, and victory of Jesus Christ, who bore our sins so that we might receive life and salvation.
Amen
