EVERYTHING BELONGS TO GOD
Sermon By: Deacon Tonny
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. Every soul, every life belongs to Him. Humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), yet through sin, mankind became separated from Him. Scripture reminds us that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Still, God’s desire remains unchanged that his people return to Him.
One thing that stands out throughout Scripture is the heart of God for the lost. In Luke 15, Jesus shares the parable of the lost sheep. A good shepherd leaves the ninety-nine to search for the one that is missing. When he finds it, he does not beat it or condemn it, but lovingly carries it on his shoulders back to safety, and there is rejoicing. What a beautiful picture of God’s love and mercy toward humanity. God does not abandon people simply because they have gone astray. He seeks them with love, compassion, and restoration in mind.
The parable of the lost coin in Luke 15:8–10 also teaches us something important about intentionality in soul winning. The woman lit a lamp and searched carefully until she found the lost coin. In the same way, as believers, we cannot approach soul winning casually or carelessly. We need the light of God’s Word and the help of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” It is the Word of God that gives direction, wisdom, conviction, and understanding. We do not rely on our own strength, knowledge, or human ability, but on God, who enables us to minister effectively to others. The parable of the prodigal son further reveals the heart of the Father. Even after rebellion and waywardness, the father waited with expectation and received his son with love when he returned. This reminds us that God still welcomes those who come back to Him genuinely and wholeheartedly.
As Christians, we are called to be passionate about fulfilling the mission of God. Soul winning is not merely an activity; it is the heartbeat of the Father. However, we must guard our hearts and motives. We are not called to approach people with pride, condemnation, or the mindset of the Pharisees, who looked down on others while ignoring their own spiritual condition. We go out to bring transformation through Christ, not to conform to the world around us. is why it is important to remain spiritually fortified. Be grounded in prayer. Be rooted in the Word of God. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let your relationship with God remain alive and on fire, so that when you go out, you are influencing others through Christ in you, rather than being influenced away from Him.
May we never lose compassion for souls. May we never become too comfortable while people around us are hurting, lost, and searching for hope. Everything belongs to God, and may we remain willing vessels committed to bringing His children back to Him through love, truth, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
