❗️THE FORCE OF FAITH BY PASTOR GREENWOOD MZEMBE – PART 1 ❗️
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1
The word “substance” in Greek is Hypostasis, meaning foundation, assurance or that which stands underneath. Faith is the foundation upon which all dealings with God are built.
The word “evidence” is Elenchos, meaning proof, conviction or certainty. Faith gives internal certainty concerning realities that cannot yet be seen by natural eyes.
Faith gives understanding.
“Through faith we understand…” (Hebrews 11:3)
Faith causes a believer to think beyond the ordinary. Elisha saw an axe head float. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow before an idol. Peter and John looked beyond a crippled condition and saw a miracle.
But faith does not come automatically.
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
If faith comes through hearing, then fear, doubt and confusion can also come through hearing the wrong voices. This is why Jesus gave a powerful warning:
“Take heed what you hear…” (Mark 4:24)
The quality of what enters your heart determines the quality of your spiritual life.
Jesus went further and said:
“With the measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.” (Mark 4:24)
The “measure” speaks of your attention, hunger, seriousness, meditation, faith, and obedience towards God’s Word. If you approach the Word casually, you receive little. If you approach it with diligence and reverence, God entrusts you with greater revelation, greater understanding and greater grace.
Faith dictates how we approach God.
Faith dictates how we walk with God.
According to Hebrews 11:6, a life of unstoppable faith operates in three distinct dimensions:
* Come to God (step out of isolation)
* Believe that He is(acknowledge His absolute sovereignty)
* Diligently pursue Him(never stop seeking Him)
May the Lord raise believers who hear His Word with faith, guard their hearts diligently and walk consistently in obedience until His promises become reality in Jesus name!
