Pesalema 95:1

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Psalm 95:1

Hello all, we are starting a segment called WEDNESDAY WORSHIP, where we encourage one another by sharing our favourite hymns / choruses/ gospel soundtracks to motivate and inspire us as we hit the midweek hump. Today we've chosen Hymn 1 from the Sotho hymnal / Hymn 744 from the English Hymns & Psalms.

A re opeleng:

Mphe maleme a sekete, le'na ke tlerole; ke utloahatse ka hohle lihlolo la mohau...

Let's sing:

O, for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace...

We hope the lyrics of the song bring joy to your heart and and put a smile on your face as you go through the day. Stay blessed!

The great thing about the Lenten period is that it affords us a fixed timeline within which to commit ourselves to certain activities and actually accomplish them (in the spirit of prayer of course).

There are so many ideas to choose from, it's all a matter of creativity. You may decide to have a "40 days of Gratitude" challenge where you make a note of 1 thing God has done for you each day. At the end, you'll have a lovely list of blessings to count and name one by one (as the song goes)
Or you could try a "40 days of Kindness" challenge where you perform random acts of kindness (preferably anonymously) for each day... that kind of thing.
Please share any ideas you may have or anything different / special that you might be getting involved in during this period so we can join in.

Here's an interesting challenge for those interested to try out... and here's hoping that everyone is inspired after these 40 days to continue the year in the same spirit.

**The dates on the challenge are not exactly tying in with our dates this year because this has been out there for a while, but take the basic idea from it.

As we all know, the world commemorated Breast Cancer Awareness month a short while ago. During that time we challenged our friends on this page to find out about the various types of cancer and also to pray for those who were suffering from cancer as well as the survivors.

This week, the world lost 3 popular culture icons to cancer- David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Rene Angelil- may their sould rest in peace.

Throughout the world, many still suffer and perish on account of this deadly disease. Instead of setting aside a specific month to remember them, I challenge us to make it a daily exercise. Everyday is a good day to pray for a Christ-healed Africa for the healing of the nations.

To those that are suffering, we support and pray for you.
To those giving care, we thank and encourage you.
To those who work tirelessly to find a cure, we commit the work of your hands to God.

HIV / AIDS... We are all affected. Gone are the days when we could skim around the issue and hope that it would disappear. Thankfully with time has come increased knowledge, but unfortunately stigma and prejudice still remain.

As the church, we are tasked to show God's love to ALL, each and every day. It means that even if no other place feels safe, the church should be there to provide refuge and support for the weary. Are we really doing that though?

Let's challenge ourselves not to just to wear the ribbons and talk the talk but to join our hands together, live responsibly, pray for one another and fight for the future of our youth. One day of remembrance is not enough.

World AIDS Day 2015. Praying for a Christ-healed Africa and a Christ-healed world.
