The Plea of Mercy

We are in a time when we need the mercy of God. As we look at what is happening in the world, everything is uncertain. We need to plead for mercy, for your own life, your family, and the church itself.

Mercy — Paul, when he was writing to the Corinthians, said that God is the God of mercy.

What is Mercy?Mercy is not getting the punishment you deserve. He is a merciful God.

Genesis 13:23–33
This speaks about when Abraham was pleading for mercy for S***m and Gomorrah.

Abraham sat close to God and started pleading for S***m and Gomorrah. He was pleading for mercy because he understood who God is.

We know the part of God being a good and caring God, but there is another side of God that we don’t know, and this is why we must not take God for granted.

There is another side of God that, when God moves to that side, there is something that we don’t want to experience. He says that this side of God is not revealed to many people, and Abraham, knowing who God is, sat next to Him.

📌Keep yourself righteous. There is power in righteousness.

Christ is delaying because He is waiting for His church to be saved. It would be painful if He comes now and comes for only a few people in the church. The suffering that He went through, the pain, and the sacrifice, He is still pleading to give you time to change.

How many of us will go if He was to come?

You are the reason why your family is not saved. You can also be the reason your family can be saved. Be righteous.

Mark 10:46–52 — The Story of the Blind Man Bartimaeus

Do not let Him pass you by. He is the only one who can solve your situation.

When he heard that Jesus was passing by, he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” He knew that God is the Father of mercy even though he had never seen Him.

In the midst of all the people gathered, Jesus heard the cry of the blind man.

📌Introspect yourself. Delete every wrong friend.

These people were all followers of Christ, always praying with Him, but they silenced the blind man. They said to him, “Keep quiet. You are making noise.” But the Bible says he cried out even more, “Son of David, have mercy on me.”

How many people have you turned away from God because of your behaviour?

Jesus stood still and called him. He said, “Call him,” and they called him.

It is your duty to call people to Christ. We are all called to bring them to Him. He wants to heal you and deliver you. His arms are wide open; everyone can come.

The other side of God is not nice. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of God. Beyond the side of God, it is your duty to support those who are blind, those who don’t know Christ, so that they can see and know Christ.

We are in a time when anyone can come to Jesus. His arms are open to receive anyone who comes.

There is still a chance to come to God. You can start afresh. You can still lead your family to Christ. He is waiting for them. You will call them to rise.

A righteous person, when they pray, things happen.

Topic: The quality of your Christian service matters to God
Ref scrip: 1 Corinthians 3:5-13

📌God evaluates not only what you do but why and how we do it.

God’s measurement of success is in a particular way, he doesn’t see it the way we do. God evaluates the heart, the motives, the spiritual quality behind everything. What and why are you doing that thing, is what matters to God.

As a member of a congregation, maybe without a position in the church, the truth is you are also called to contribute. You will one day account for your contribution, because there is something that God has given you. You have the gift of life, how are you stewarding that gift of life?

What are the lessons can we pick from this verse?

📌1. Every believer is a server accountable to God- some of your works are only known by you, but that day the word of God says that your works will be made manifest. No Christian is exempt from being accountable. Whichever ministry you are in, you will stand before God and be accountable. As a believer try to be engaged, Do something.

📌2. The fire knows how to purify

Fire represents the testing that reveals the true quality of what we have built.

Vs 12….We build with different materials.
Gold, silver and precious stones, they are durable, they can withstand fire.

Wood, hay, straw- they easily catch fire.

-In the house of God, there are different vessels. Put your heart in the things of God, im what you are doing, give your best.

📌3. God evaluates how we serve- Many people serve faithfully but their attitude diminish the beauty of their work.

📌4. God evaluates why we serve- God wants to know why. People give for different reasons, some give to get recognition, some for attention, some give for the work of God. Why are you giving? Check the motives behind your giving.

📌5. God’s fire reveals what eyes cannot see. Fire removes anything false and leaves what is genuine. The Bible says that our works shall be examined by fire. Strive so that your works will pass through the fire.

✨We are all called to serve let us serve the Lord. God knows how much you can offer him, God is not asking you to give what you don’t have. Put what you can give in God’s hand. Dont allow people to tell you that you are poor you don’t have nothing to give.

✨Psalms 126:5-6
There is a part of giving that will cause pain to you. There is a kind of giving that will bring pain to your heart but the day will come when you will reap in joy.
