BELIEVE HIM AND BE SAVED

RBT: Acts 14-15

Memory Verse: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16-17, NIV

Bible Text: John 3:10-16

3:10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?

3:11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify towhat we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.

3:12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will youbelieve if I speak of heavenly things?

3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.

3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

3:15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John Piper says: “If we only knew it, every one of us is stranded on an ice face in Greenland, and the wind is blowing fiercely. Our position is so precarious that, even if we inhale too deeply, our weight will shift and we will plunge to our destruction. God comes to us and says in that moment, “I will save you, and protect you from the storm. But there is a condition.” Your heart sinks. You know you can't meet conditions. … You know that there is nothing you can do for God! Then he speaks the gospel command: “My requirement,” he says, “is that you hope in me.” In our passage today, Jesus was talking to Nicodemus about how believing in Him is the only access to eternal life. It really sounded unbelievable to Nicodemus because he had lived by the law all his life. Jesus reaffirmed that the only way to be saved is by simply believing in Him. It might sound too easy for many today but it does not change this truth. Do you believe in Jesus? This is the only way to salvation.

The only way to salvation is by believing in Jesus.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe in You today, please save my soul from destruction.

BEWARE OF WOLVES
RBT: John 1-2

Memory Verse:I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Acts 20:29, NIV

Bible Text: Acts 20: 28-30

20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

20:29 I know that after Ileave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.

20:30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order todraw away disciples after them.

In a class review on wolves, it was discovered that wolves can kill for the fun of it. In a documentation of wolf attack they discovered that the number of sheep killed was far in excess of what the park needed for food with many of the sheep killed with little or nothing eaten from them. These are the savage wolves. That is the type of spiritual wolf Paul is describing. They desire to disrupt and destroy the lives of as many followers of Jesus as possible.

Paul, in today's text, warned the elders of the church at Ephesus on the future dangers that might befall the church. He gave instruction to watch over the flocks. This is because he believed that wolves would come among them who would not spare the flocks. Many wolves are indeed scattering the church today. Many false teachers and prophets have tickled the ears of many, and many wrong doctrines have infiltrated the church. We must, therefore, guard our hearts, stand against their devices, take heed of the whole counsel of God, and hold on to our faith in Christ Jesus.

Insight: By their fruits, we shall know them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to be on my guard against every devices of the enemy.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

What does it mean to believe in God?
To believe in God is to believe that He is, and that His Word is true. Of course, this has implications for our day-to-day life …

To believe in God means living according to His Word

If you believe this, you will be at rest. Believing it does not mean that you sense it is like that or that you understand it to be like that. Having faith means that you build your life on God’s Word; you conduct yourself according to God’s Word and reckon that God, who has said it, guides everything and is a rewarder.

To believe in God means pleasing Him alone
“Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart …” Ephesians 6:5-8.

To believe in God is to conduct your life according to this Word. The person who wants to please people is never at rest, but if you believe that God rewards those who seek Him, you will be at rest. “Knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord …” Ephesians 6:8. In other words, whatever people do means nothing to us who believe. Whatever good a person does, he will receive it again from the Lord. That ought to be sufficient for us who believe in God.

To believe in God means living before His face in the hidden
“Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.” Matthew 10:26.

“For we who have believed do enter that rest …” Hebrews 4:3. If you really believe in God, really believe that God is, and believe that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, you will be preserved from all the evil to which you can be tempted. Then it is not difficult to do what is good in the hidden.

Live before God’s face! Demand nothing and expect nothing from people. If you do, the result will be only disappointment and strife. Live for God and “be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6-7.

This is God’s Word. Having faith means you conduct yourself according to God’s Word by believing that God is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

When a person comes out of love and finds fault with his fellow men it is because he does not believe. As far as most people are concerned, their love grows cold when unrighteousness abounds. (Matthew 24:12) Their faith that God rewards those who seek Him, fails them. They no longer believe that all things work together for good to those who seek God or that everyone will receive again for the good he has done. Only those who are built up on their faith can be preserved in love.

You cannot be ready for Jesus’ return without being preserved in love. Tribulations are momentary and light for all those who believe. For them, tribulations work a far more and exceeding weight of glory. (2 Corinthians 4:17) Then we are ready.

HOW TO RENEW YOUR MIND

1.Study the scripture daily (2 peter1:3)
2.Meditate on the word ( in this case on healing scriptures) day and night ( Jushua1:8)
3. Cast down wrong imaginations.(2 Cor10:4-5). Thoughts that brings fear, confusion, doubt etc
4. Avoid listening to the wrong person. The wrong people will instill fear and doubt in you. They will tell you how others had a similar problem but ended up negatively.
