John 3.16 is the sovereign declaration of Almighty God separating those who believe from destruction, waste, failure and damnation.
What is everlasting life? To understand everlasting life you have to understand eternal life. When you use the term eternal, you mean ageless, without a beginning, without end. Eternal life is not subject to failure. There is only one who died, God Almighty, that’s why He is called the eternal one. Everlasting life is a product of eternity. Everlasting means you do have a beginning but you have no end, you are part of eternity. Angels are eternal because God made them everlasting.
When God makes someone eternal He imparts that one with everlasting life, although that man has a beginning. When God made man He made man to be everlasting. When you where born again you were brought up from your humanity to eternity and then you become everlasting.
You are brought into eternity when you received everlasting life and got born again. Is eternal life a promise? Do we receive it when we get to heaven. Eternal life the nature of God. It is the life of God, just like you have the plant and animal life. John 5.26, Jesus was by this statement declaring that He himself was God, no wonder He said I and my father are one.
Jesus had a purpose of coming. His purpose was not to give us a holiday at Christmas. His purpose was eternal, John 10.10, Jesus came that we may enjoy life to the full.
Eternal life means:
1. Vital union with God different from a legal union. The document a man and a woman signs in court to get married is a legal union that certifies them as married. When they come together to form a family, now that they have come together that is a vital union. You are the fruit of a vital union between your mom and dad. We are beneficiaries of both the legal and vital union with God consummated for us by Jesus.
2. Eternal life gives us divine health. There is something far better than healing it is divine health.
3. Eternal life brings us agelessness. It is called endless development. When you were born again you were born into the ageless zone, the timeless zone.
