John 14:15

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples shortly before going to the cross. He was preparing them for His departure and teaching them what genuine love for Him looks like. Many people say they love Jesus, but Jesus teaches that true love is demonstrated through obedience.

Love is not merely a feeling; it is a commitment that is expressed through action.

1. Love for Jesus Must Be Genuine
Jesus did not say, “If you fear Me” or “If you know Me.” He said, “If you love Me.”
Christianity is first and foremost a relationship with Christ. God desires our hearts before our service.
When we truly love Jesus:
We desire His presence.
We delight in His Word.
We seek to please Him.
We long to become more like Him.

The question is not merely, “Do you attend church?” but “Do you love Jesus?”

Love Produces Obedience
Jesus connected love and obedience together.
Obedience is the evidence of our love for Christ. We do not obey to earn His love; we obey because we love Him.

A child who loves a parent desires to honor them. In the same way, believers who love Jesus desire to obey His commands.

His commands include:
Loving God wholeheartedly.
Loving our neighbors.
Forgiving those who hurt us.
Living holy lives.
Sharing the Gospel.

True love for Christ is seen in everyday obedience.
Obedience Brings Blessing
God always honors obedience.
Throughout Scripture, those who obeyed God experienced His favor:

Noah obeyed and was saved from the flood.

Abraham obeyed and became the father of many nations.

Peter obeyed Jesus and witnessed miracles.

Obedience may not always be easy, but it always leads to God's purpose and blessing.

The Holy Spirit Helps Us Obey
Just after this verse, Jesus promised the coming of the Holy Spirit.
We cannot obey God in our own strength. The Holy Spirit empowers us to:
Resist temptation.
Walk in holiness.
Love others.
Remain faithful.

God never commands us to do something without giving us the grace and power to accomplish it.

Jesus is still asking the same question today: “Do you love Me?”

If we truly love Him:
We will trust Him.
We will follow Him.
We will obey Him.

Love that does not lead to obedience is incomplete. Genuine love for Christ is revealed through a life surrendered to His will.

“Go Therefore” — Matthew 28:19

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

The Great Commission: Our Divine Assignment
Beloved, before Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not leave the church without direction. He gave a command, a mission, and a responsibility. Matthew 28:19 is not a suggestion — it is a divine mandate from the King of kings.

Jesus said:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”

This means Christianity is not only about coming to church; it is about going into the world with the message of salvation.

THE COMMAND — “GO”
The first word is “GO.”

God never called the church to sit and be silent. He called us to move. The gospel must travel from person to person, city to city, nation to nation.

The Great Commission is still active today.

Will you GO?
Will you speak?
Will you carry the gospel?
Will you become a disciple-maker?

Todays Message : THE OPEN DOOR
Text: Revelation 3:7–13

Introduction

In Revelation 3:7–13, Jesus speaks to the church in Philadelphia. Unlike other churches, this one receives no rebuke—only encouragement and promise. At the heart of His message is a powerful phrase: “See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it.”
This passage teaches us about divine opportunity, faithfulness, and eternal reward.

1. The Authority Behind the Open Door (Verse 7)

> “These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”

Jesus identifies Himself as holy and true—He is trustworthy and pure.

He holds the key of David, symbolizing absolute authority.

Open doors are not decided by people, systems, or circumstances—they are decided by Christ.

Teaching Point:
If Jesus opens a door, opposition cannot close it. If He closes a door, persistence cannot force it open.

2. The Open Door Given to the Faithful (Verse 8)

> “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

The church had little strength, but great faithfulness.

God did not open the door because of power, but because of obedience.

Faithfulness in weakness attracts divine opportunity.

Teaching Point:
You don’t need great strength to access great doors—you need a faithful heart.

3. Vindication Before Opposition (Verse 9)

> “I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan… fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.”

God promises public vindication.

Those who opposed or looked down on believers would see God’s hand upon them.

The open door comes with God’s defense.

Teaching Point:
When God opens a door, He also handles your critics.

4. Protection in Times of Trial (Verse 10)

> “Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial…”

Obedience brings divine covering.

Endurance today results in preservation tomorrow.

God honors those who remain steadfast under pressure.

Teaching Point:
Faithfulness is not forgotten—it is rewarded with protection.

5. Hold Fast to What You Have (Verse 11)

> “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”

The open door requires perseverance.

Crowns can be lost—not by God, but by compromise.

Consistency is key to finishing well.

Teaching Point:
An open door is not just about entering—it’s about remaining faithful inside it.

6. The Promise Beyond the Open Door (Verses 12–13)

> “The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God…”

Pillars speak of stability, honor, and permanence.

God promises identity, belonging, and eternal security.

The open door leads to an eternal inheritance, not just temporary success.

Teaching Point:
God’s open doors on earth are preparation for our permanent place in eternity.

Conclusion

Revelation 3:7–13 reminds us that:

Jesus controls doors.

Faithfulness invites opportunity.

Weakness does not disqualify you.

Obedience secures divine protection.

Eternal rewards await those who endure.

Closing Exhortation

If God has placed an open door before you—walk through it in faith, humility, and obedience.
What He opens, no one can shut.

> “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 3:13)
