Verse of the Week

"The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, we have found the Messiah that is Christ." — John 1:41

Discipleship does not require a massive platform; it flows through genuine relationships. By starting with those already in our lives —whether it is a mate, a child, a spouse, or even a client — we can build connections, understand their challenges, and walk alongside them. True disciple-making begins by simply sharing the hope we have found with the person next to us.

What happens after the fire? 🔥

In our series on The Purpose of the Power, Rev. Dorcus Chisi challenges us to go "Beyond Discipleship: From disciple to disciple-maker." It is easy to leave a service feeling "power-packed," but that power is not for our own entertainment or simply to enjoy a "warm fuzzy feeling". It comes with a global responsibility to move from being spiritual consumers to spiritual producers.

To be "fishers of men," we must go where the fish are. As Rev. Chisi points out, you cannot fish in your bathtub or your sink; you have to go into the rivers, the highways, and the byways.

This movement begins with those closest to us. In John 1:41, we see that the first thing Andrew did after meeting Jesus was to find his brother, Simon, and tell him they had found the Messiah. He didn't hire a stadium; he started with the person next to him.

We are called to do the same—to be the light of the world and to step into broken lives with hope. Don't let the power you have received become stagnant like the Dead Sea. It is time to move beyond just receiving and begin reproducing.

⚡️ ARE YOU LIVING POWER PACKED? ⚡️

In this life-changing message, Rev. Shawn Kenosi challenges us to stop living like the "captive elephant"—a creature with ginormous strength that remains tied to a small post because it doesn't realize its own power. As believers, we have been invested with the same resurrection power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. This power isn't just for the pulpit; it is for your daily life, your profession, and your purpose. Rev. Shawn Kenosi breaks down the five dimensions of biblical power found in the Greek language:

~Dunamis: Stored, potential power (Dynamite!)
~Energia: Expressed, outward energy
~Kratos: Ruling power and dominion
~Ischus: Endowed and transferred power
~Exousia: Divine authority

You are a threat to the kingdom of darkness because you are in "possession with the intent to distribute" the power of God to the world around you. Don't leave your power on the table—uproot the posts of the enemy and walk in the authority of the Holy Spirit today!

Celebrating 33 years of ministry at Light of the World Church was an unforgettable experience!🎉

Pastor Matthew Buckley delivered a timely message titled "The Purpose of the Power," challenging us to remember that the Holy Spirit was never intended to stay confined within the church walls. Instead, it is a call to move from the "upper room to the streets," taking the ministry of Jesus into our daily lives.

Key Highlights from Pastor Buckley’s Message:

Power with a Purpose: The dunamis (virtue) we receive is the same power Jesus used to heal, and it's given to us so we can continue His works as His hands, feet, and voice in the world today.

Reaching Our Oikos: We are called to let our light shine in our oikos—our unique circles of family, friends, and colleagues who may never step foot in a church.

From Converts to Disciple-Makers: Pastor Buckley reminded us that we aren't just here to "warm a chair"; every believer has an assignment to be a disciple-maker.

As we celebrate 33 years of God's faithfulness, we are more committed than ever to being a "divine flow" of His power to a world that needs Him.

Pastor Buckley reminds us that a vibrant spiritual life thrives on a healthy balance of receiving and giving—having both an inlet and an outlet. Just as the Sea of Galilee stays fresh because water flows both in and out, we stay spiritually vital when we allow the "fresh word" we receive to flow into the lives of others.

Drawing from the book of Jeremiah, the message encourages us to be "emptied from vessel to vessel" to maintain our freshness and avoid becoming stagnant. True satisfaction—what Jesus described as His "meat"—is found in doing God’s will and contributing our unique "supply" to the body of Christ.

Whether you are helping in the parking lot, greeting a neighbor, or leading a group, you are an essential "joint" in the "big picture" of building the Kingdom. You are deeply loved and valued just for being part of the family, and we invite you to experience the life-changing joy of discovering your unique purpose. Find your outlet this week and experience the vital flow!
