Today, across our beautiful Commonwealth, we proudly stand united in celebrating not only the remarkable achievements of Bahamian workers, but also the enduring legacy of a visionary leader whose voice gave strength to the voiceless and whose advocacy helped secure greater fairness, opportunity, dignity, and respect for generations of working men and women.

On this Labour Day, we honour the life, legacy, and profound national contribution of Sir Randol Fawkes, the revered Father of Labour in The Bahamas. Through his courageous leadership, principled conviction, and indomitable commitment to justice, he championed the rights of workers and helped shape a stronger and more equitable nation.

Sir Randol Fawkes’ legacy continues to inspire us to embrace the value of honest labour, pursue justice with integrity, and build a Bahamas where every worker is recognized, respected, and empowered to flourish. His life’s work reminds us that service, sacrifice, and perseverance remain essential pillars of national progress and human dignity.
