BAHAMAS GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION is pleased to honor and feature Brother CHARLES "CHARLIE" GRANT on his passing who was funeralized on Saturday the fifteenth day of June in the year twenty nineteenth at the Community at Heart tabernacle on Coral road Freeport, Grand Bahama where hundreds gathered to celebrate the life of our brother CHARLES GRANT. The memorial service was held at the Church of God, Hanna hill. Brother Charles Grant served in this local assembly on their music ministry along with his wife for the past several years while assisting other churches such as Trinity Ministries International and Silver Star Ministries to name a few. The memorial served as an intimate time for family members, friends and fellow gospel colleagues to reflect on his stellar life and ministry.
Present at this memorial service were members of the great Church of God of Prophecy where Charlie serve for many years in their music ministry and was a proud student of their music ministry playing the Saxophone, bass guitar and keyboards, this event was co-ordinated in part by Mr. Derek Stubbs and was hosted by Bishop Joe Hall.
The memorial featured musical presentations by the Church of God district Choir, The Grand Bahama Taxi Union Choir, The Family, Bishop Huden Roberts and SHEKINAH-BAHAMAS, Joe Cartwright and the fabulous COOLING WATERS. This event was truly a blast and afforded the attendees a time to reflect and grieve the lost of our dear brother.
CHARLES "CHARLIE" GRANT was a father, husband, business man who operated his tour and limousine company with self drive vehicles and travel agency. He was a body repairman and a studio producer who produced several projects for various artists.
The "CHARLIE" I remember and loved most was the friend. He played mostly with the Cooling Waters but for a season we were pleased to have hime play keyboard with us in SHEKINAH-BAHAMAS. My first recollection of him as an artist was back in the early eighties playing the saxophone at the Mary Star of the Sea Auditorium while I was playing and singing with the infamous Sensational Seven. Several times while doing concerts in Nassau alongside the Cooling Waters, Charlie. O'Neil Gardiner would make special effort to fellowship most of the times it would be over dinner.
We had opportunities to travel with Brother Charlie to Nashville, Tennessee, Orlando Florida and other events and he was always fun and provocative. Many times he would just show up at my home and say let's go and have lunch. We would reflect on the past opportunities and sound off on what we would like to see in the future. He was a true friend and brother who has left an indelible mark on our lives. We will always cherish his legacy. Rest in peace my brother. To his wife, children and family our prayers are with you.
