About 50 years ago, I finished my mission in France, returned to BYU to finish my education, and met Kathy, my beautiful wife.
What are your hopes and plans for your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ 50 years from today? I shared some of the following principles with students at the Brigham Young University devotional earlier today about how to keep their faith strong over the next 50 years of their lives.
• Remember you are a son or daughter of God and the spiritual feelings that draw you to Him will grow as you respond to them.
• Keep your hope in Jesus Christ a burning, bright, powerful star in your life.
• Look for the hand of the Lord in your life.
• Embrace the gifts and protections of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
• Diminish the distractions and magnify the good that focuses your attention toward the Savior.
• Be spiritually prepared for the challenges that will come into your life.
In five decades from now, Kathy and I will have completed our mortality, but if the Savior has not yet returned, many of you will be here, reviewing your life as 2073 begins.
Fifty years ago, I had a testimony of the Savior, but today I share with you my sure and certain witness that He lives, that He is resurrected, and that He calls to each of us, “Come unto me.” He makes our eternal lives possible.
Do not ever forsake the great endowment of blessings and power you have been given from God. Embrace the blessings. Do everything within your reach to keep your faith growing with a brightness of hope in the redeeming love of our Savior. His outstretched hands will reach to your outstretched hands and expand your faith beyond anything you can imagine.
