A youth group from the Los Chacos Ward recently visited the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple construction site. Stone cladding has been secured to the north side of the temple, and work is progressing on the west side. Hipped roofs have been installed over each of the four wings, which will be covered with terracotta-style roof tiles, coordinating with the tiles on the pyramidal cupola at the top of the tower. Pilaster frames have been secured to the concrete exterior walls of the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple, and framing for the base tier of the steeple is underway. The three-tiered steeple with feature stained-glass windows on all three tiers. It will be topped with a pyramidal cupola and finial. The concrete structural walls for the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple have been installed, and concrete forms have been set for pouring the parapet—the short wall that sits along the edge of the roof. Framing has been completed for the pitched roofs over the north and south wings of the building, and much of the decking is in place. Additional concrete has been poured for the load-bearing walls of the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple, including the interior walls that will support the central steeple. The concrete foundation for the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple has been installed, and forming has begun for the exterior walls. In the country of Bolivia, there is currently one dedicated temple located in the country's third largest city of Cochabamba, which was selected for its central location between the two largest cities of La Paz and Santa Cruz. A satellite image taken at the end of August shows the progress that has been made on installing the foundations for the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple and ancillary building. Santa Cruz ("Holy Cross" in English) is formally named Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Although it is the most populous city in the country today, it was a small outpost town for much of its history until the middle of the 20th century when it began to grow rapidly. (Photo: Google)
