CHRISTMAS SINS
AMOS 5V21-27
Christmas! the most anticipated moment of the year. The only season where the whole world in one accord join together in celebration 🎉🎉. Friends and loved ones, families reunites from different geo-locations. People spend a lot of money on new clothes, shoes, and all kinds of attires just to look scintillating for Christmas. But, there is an evil which I have seen under the sun, people killing each other and using them for money ritual, stepping on the toes on one another, extorting money from others, just so they can celebrate Christmas in a big way. Is it truly worth it? Is Christmas worth all this atrocities we commit in it? Is this what Jesus coming to the earth, taught us?
Jesus gave his life so that we could live, Jesus taught us to show love, he said you should love your neighbor as you love yourself, Jesus said we should avoid covetousness (taking or seeking what belongs to another). Why do we steal, kill, commit abomination in the name of Christmas? Hmmm, God looked and it displeased him and he sent me to tell you this morning that if that's what you can do just to celebrate the special day you said is for me but truly is not for me at all but for yourself and your lusts then take my name away from your mouths, ' Far be from God that he will be associated with iniquity".
Thus says the lord " I hate, I despise your feast days and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies". But, to my faithful servants who serve the Lord with a pure heart and who have not soiled their hands with blood even them will I bring upon my house of prayer and make them joyful for I am the Lord and holy is my name".
