🤩 Last week, from Tuesday to Thursday, the entire SaCoDé team came together for a professional retreat. Staff from the headquarters and the centers across the provinces gathered to reflect, reconnect, and align.

👌🏽 These three days were dedicated to building a shared understanding of where the organization is coming from, where it is heading, and how everyone will contribute to that journey. It was also an opportunity to reconnect with the purpose behind the work carried out every day.

🤗 Because behind every program, activity, and effort is a commitment to creating meaningful change for the communities served.

For this year, SaCoDé aims to reach:

1️⃣ 8,900 women across 290 VSLAs through the Community Graduation Program

2️⃣ 220 school clubs in 220 participating schools

3️⃣ 120 persons living with disabilities through vocational training

4️⃣ 3,720 new Oky users through the mass sensitization program

💪🏾 The retreat helped ensure that everyone is moving forward with the same direction and commitment for the year ahead.

📚 Education is a gateway, but what happens to those who remain outside the gates? 👩🏾‍🏫

🌑 In Burundi, while many girls have the opportunity to attend school, nearly 500,000 girls do not. For these out-of-school girls, the lack of menstrual hygiene management and reproductive health education isn't just a health issue, it’s a barrier to their dignity and a threat to their future. 🩸📆

🚧 Without access to essential protections, period poverty becomes a silent force that isolates them from their communities and derails their dreams.

We must ensure that every girl, regardless of her school status, has the tools to understand her body and protect her future.

💃🏻🤩 Can learning be fun?

Last week, girls from different schools took part in the Baza OKY competitions.

📲 These competitions are more than just games: they help SaCoDé support girls in gaining confidence, autonomy, and knowledge, empowering them to better manage their menstrual health 😍

This week, the Baza OKY program is hitting the road!

We are hosting schools competitions across Ngozi, Kayanza, Muyinga, Kirundo, Vumbi, Ntega, and Busoni to see how students are mastering the OKY Burundi app.

OKY is more than just an app—it’s a vital tool that helps girls track their cycles, understand their bodies, and access reliable health information with confidence. 🩸

Through interactive challenges and lively discussions, these students are proving that knowledge is power. We are proud to continue breaking barriers and ensuring every girl has the information she needs to manage her health with dignity. 💬🙋🏽‍♀️

🩸 Menstrual poverty is more than a health issue; it is a systemic barrier that limits education, obstructs economic opportunity, and compromises both physical and mental well-being. Every cycle without adequate resources reinforces a pattern of deprivation, preventing women and girls from reaching their full potential.

Addressing this challenge means dismantling invisible barriers. By ensuring access to menstrual health products, we empower girls to stay in school and women to participate fully in the workforce. It is an essential step toward restoring dignity and confidence.

🇧🇮 Investing in menstrual equity is an investment in the freedom of our women and the collective future of our nation.

🥳 Big news! We’re teaming up with Enabel Burundi to champion menstrual dignity!

We are heading to 15 schools in Cibitoke and Kirundo to launch an exciting new project! 🧵✨

SaCoDé will be training girls and school communities on how to make their own reusable sanitary pads both by hand and with sewing machines.

Huge thanks to Enabel for being such an incredible partner. Together, we’re:
• ✅ Strengthening local skills
• ✅ Promoting eco-friendly solutions
• ✅ Empowering girls to lead with confidence!

At SaCoDé, we believe that a girl’s rights and her dignity should never be a luxury. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that menstruation is never a barrier to education, health, or opportunity.

💪🏾 Join us in making menstrual dignity a reality for all. Rights aren't just for celebrating, they are for defending.
