Anyone is welcome to contribute and pray for the construction of the Centenary Church Building which will be officially unveiled in August 2028 at Ngagara, Q.7 Bujumbura City.
The Baptist Church started in Burundi in 1928 by the missionaries from Denmark at Musema in Butaganza county and former Kayanza province as the first protestant Church in Burundi. They received and welcomed other missionaries from different church denominations in 1934-35 and they have handed over the lands already owned by Baptist Missionary and helped to create the Alliance of Protestant Churches in Burundi
So, in 2028 will be also the celebration of the unity and love characterised by the fist missionaries as one body of Christ.
The Baptist has started the first protestant schools, Health Centers at Rubura, Bwari in Kabarore/Kayanza, Musema/Buraganzwa- Kayanza Mataba/Musigati-Bubanza, Ruhinga/ Isare- Bujumbura and hospital in Musema and first house printing machine which printed the first Hymn books and Gospels. The Baptists helped the translation of the Bible in partnership with Anglicam missionaries in 60's.
But, during the civil war of 1972 almost Baptist pastors and educated were killed, missionaries were chased away, because they were defending the people to not being killed and those infrastructures cited above were confiscated by the government of that time! Now we have introduced the request to the government to give back the schools, clinics and hospital.
"Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD. (Haggai 1:8).
